Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Recent layoffs

For those recently let go, what's the current offer/severance/supplemental that's given? And if you were part of the groups that were immediately let go, are you still paid for the 30 days?

This SUB program is complete BS. Several years ago, some consultant or exec "discovered" they could pass along some of the severance costs the company used to pay onto the taxpayers via unemployment. This sc--ws the unemployment program and the employee. Some employees never needed to file for unemployment if they found a job during their severance period. Other employees (typically older ones) lose out on a longer runway of time to find a job since SUB and unemployment run concurrently instead of unemployment beginning when the old severance program ended.

But hey, I am sure someone got a nice spot bonus and atta boys for coming up with this sketchy scheme.

Is everyone who was RIF’d on Thursday working for another month? I don’t understand this packet and have been unable to reach anyone. I will continue to reach out to my manager but she’s fully incompetent so I don’t expect her to have any information. Packet states that work with your manager on your last day but if you have questions, contact HR rep. I left a message for HR rep mentioned one form, but it’s a Director so likely just indicative of which HR region.

Also, how do we know if we’ve been designated as unrehirable? The information on that age discrimination is a huge lie. Help me understand how my skills and competencies required to successfully perform this job and values put me on a list when I was never disciplined and passed all my audits. This is pure insanity. And definitely discriminatory. Yikes. This place is shady and my manager is incompetent and toxic.

@fv+1jpyzn7e9 in the RIF meetings they could not even provide a list of states, they just said everyone needed to apply for unemployment and you'd find out then if your state prohibited it. Helpful, i know...not. My state allows SUB pay. good luck

My state required me to report AIP, so I don’t get SUI (unemployment) for that week but it’s extended… so my max unemployment from the state would get extended an extra week on the calendar. I have to file every 2 weeks w the state to certify and document my efforts at seeking employment.

The previous poster said: If unemployment does not allow SUB pay (it’s different than severance) they will pay you the full bi weekly amount.
What States do not allow SUB pay? More specifically, is Florida one that allows SUB pay?

So they will have group meetings that will detail everything in the SUB package. But the gist is this. The base is 4 weeks and 2 additional weeks for every year of service with a cap at 26 weeks. You have to apply for your state unemployment the monday after your last day. Your SUB pay will be your bi weekly pay less what unemployment is paying you weekly. If unemployment does not allow SUB pay (its different than severance) they will pay you the full bi weekly amount, but you have to apply to your state. Then you must abide by the state unemployment weekly filing rules and red tape, in addition to the Helvance weekly unemployment filing. So my state unemployment maxs out at 6 months, and they make it very difficult with constant red tape and payments being held up for "additional questions". The AIP payout caused a whole host of problems for me when I reported it (because they threaten you every week that you have to report any extra money) and the state stopped paying me until the "investigation" is done... and they will not issue 'back pay' or extend your unemployment... so you just loose it. It was fun times when I had to report the Pension plan payout I got, sure it was rolled over directly to an IRA account and the check wasn't even made out to me... but state unemployment again held up any weekly payments. So your wondering how much is it anyway? Unemployment $580 is paid weekly by my state, Helvance is deducting $1,160.00 from every biweekly paycheck. So i've pretty much been getting half my bi-weekly pay for the last few months because of issues with Unemployment red tape.... fun times.

Yes, you will get paid for the 30 days, you will get basically 2 weeks/yr. Then the cheapskates also net your severance payment vs. your state unemployment so if your state pays you $300/week, Elevance will short your severance by that amount.

But I hear Gail and Pete have nice houses and Morgan has multiple Porsches.
