Disgraceful, tasteless, shortsighted…less than 10 minutes to read the prepared statement. Any concern about thousands of homebound, sick, vulnerable patients who relied on this service to get access to a provider?! What about all the talented, passionate, and devoted providers who went above and beyond for every patient?! Patient care is the center of what we do…laughable. Shame!!!

Thank you for answering! Wow, seems like they were doing amazing work and I'm really disappointed Cigna shut it down

That would make sense about Thursday being the day folks are told about their individual situations, but managers (and even Sr managers) certainlt don't know. They told us they'd have to ask HR lol
Any insight on which jobs will be retained for the wind down?
Heard they’ll be individual communications Thursday informing employees of their termination date and if a package will be offered to them.
Thoughts on which positions will be in the 30, 60, 90, 120 day groups?
This is my guess:
They’ll keep a few from each position for the 90-120 window, let the others go earlier.
Providers 60-120
Social workers 30-90
Psych: 30-90
RNs: 60-120
MAs: 60-120
Pharmacy: 30-90
Scheduling: 30-120
Engagement: 30-120
Missing a lot of positions here that are not patient facing. think they’ll trim down each group and run things bare bones. That’s my guess
This is a shame, home based care is a wonderful and very needed service. Before my aunt had no choice but to enter assisted living, I desperately searched for this type of care for her in her home, as she was so reluctant to leave it. I have read that DispatchHealth is going to acquire Medically Home, and according to the headline to create a home care giant. I think Cigna was very much on the right track with this service, but it seems Cigna likes to throw things against the wall to see what sticks so to speak, and they are only looking to retain their revenue heavy hitters I guess.
“Can anyone share what the Evernorth In Home Primary Care is/does?? I sit in International Health so not familiar with this area but I want to understand the magnitude of them shutting it down”
It is there in home primary care program. Patients who Cigna has determined might be at highest risk for poor outcomes e.g. multiple chronic co-morbidities, multiple hospital admissions in the prior 12 months, high risk diagnoses, homebound patients w/ lack of access to care, etc.
have in home visits with an NP or MD. They have a care team including of RNs, MAs, Social worker, Behavioral health NP, palliative care, pharmacist.
Goal is to improve overall health/wellbeing, reduce admissions, bridge gaps in care.
These patients are the most vulnerable.
from what I understand the service was doing well for the company from an investment standpoint but possibly predicting it won’t be as beneficial in the coming years with the sale of MA? The population of patients being seen would likely need to change if no longer serving MA.
What is this business? I haven’t heard of it. Thanks.
Shutting it down totally.
Did they say they are shutting down that line of business totally or are they outsourcing all the work to vendors?
The way it was handled is appalling. As a provider in one of the southern markets, I feel bad for the patients and all the wonder colleagues that I had a pleasure working with. I hope they take a good care of us on the 27th. Why wait a week is beyond my understanding. It is cruel and unfair.

Yes!! "Leadership" is a misnomer for this group. This limbo is so s*Itty, it's unreal. Total mind **** because they can't figure this out and roll it out responsibly. Shame on them.
I feel for people left behind at this company. The layoff is coming for you, too, unless you happen to work for - whatever segment (s) they actually believe makes them money. I don't even know what segment that is anymore. (Commercial maybe?)
When making announcements of such magnitude, be professional enough to provide sufficient clarity to hundreds of employees who are now in limbo, experiencing anxiety of uncertainty. All one needs to know about the “leadership”
Yes!!! And why the delay telling the business and vendors? What difference does it make now?
And how quickly are they going to let folks either go or tell them they are in the wind down group? Do they even have a plan how to wind down? Patients are scheduled months out. Is part of the 'commitment to patients' to honor those appointments or not?
Such a slapdash announcement and decision just to save Cigna bottom line. Eff Cigna. I am scared to lose my job but I think I'm actually more angry rn. They don't deserve us frankly.
