Another colleague left. He was invisible here, and I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes one of those that make huge progress and does great things for competitors. Is it really possible that the management does not understand how much damage this does to Avaya? What to expect from a company that so easily lets its best people go to competitors? Unfortunately, this place will continue to sink.

The only ones that get punished at Avaya are those that do a good job and over perform. They get more work to pick up the slack for those that do not know what they are doing and do not get any reward for the efforts. Keep in mind those that do not know what they are doing still get to stay at the company PLUS they get less responsibilities since they can not get trusted to do the job.
Unfortunately at Avaya, we don't get raises every year like other companies for performance/cost of living so our pay is no longer competitive, benefits are not great (very bad now since they got rid of 401k match) and many of the workers and managers do not know what they are doing and the statement below of "would never make it" is 100% fact if they worked at our competitors since they do not have the skills.
I wish we were able to do better on this to not drive away the talent. We lost a lot of great people because of this.
So what else is new? Avaya's been losing its best people for years. I left years ago.
What Avaya dismisses as 'Invisible" are typically super stars in merit, aptitude and skill. Avaya has created its own bizarro-world norm that people who would never make it in open market, and noteably NEVER had above entry level roles outside of Avaya, are considered "leaders" and "spokespeople" and "head of" and live in endless cycle of gratuitious self-applied or self-declared accolades. BRAVO to the employee....my condolences to all who will miss their talent.
