I recently came across Vice President JD Vance's remarks that "cheap labor is fundamentally a crutch, and it's a crutch that inhibits innovation" . This sentiment really hit home for us at Illumina. Over the past few years, we've seen our innovation decline, especially with recent layoffs and jobs moving to India.
It used to be exciting and creative here, but now the primary focus seems to be cost-cutting. We've lost so many talented colleagues, and those of us remaining are stretched thin, watching critical roles move overseas to teams with less experience.
Are we ever going to recover, or will we continue down this path of cost-cutting?
