Well if you have been laid off you might think I will go work for exxon or shell. This is a bad idea. I currently work for exxon and I used to work for shell. They are just as bad if not worse with the same problems as chevron. Go work in manufacturing or robotics or something with a future. I also worked at aramco and it was nice. Now I worked at Aramco 20 years ago and my friends there still like it. Exxon is a total sh-t show. Shell is divesting and cutting and also a sh-t show. Don't leave one he-l for another.

I did not work at Aramco for 20 years. I said I worked there 20 years ago and it was really nice. Aramco has changed and is not as great as it was but is still better than Exxon, Chevron or Shell. I am ready to retire from exxon anytime and just waiting for the PIP push. I am old and my ranking is in a tailspin. Good luck to everyone at Chevron and I do feel bad for you people. There is hope and a life after big oil layoffs.
You worked at Aramco for 20 years and then Chevron, Shell and Exxon? You should be retired and you're a glutton for punishment
You will be competing with all the other lay-offs for an interview.
A lot of them will ask you to fill out an online application that can be very time consuming and pretty deep. You will not hear from most of them again. Shell will send you a rejection after a year.
Good Luck.

At Chevron, you are paid for the pain and stress. You are also paid for the unknow. You could also just be paid because you are someone's daughter or son-in-law. In the end, you are paid high wages as you could be cut tomorrow.
My guess is you will never replace the salary but you will actually find out, you have a family.
That's the thing. Many of us have transferable skills, but most senior technical jobs outside O&G Operators and Tech top out at PSG 22 maybe 23 base pay, with less bonus & benefits. It's a huge pay cut.
I am retired and agree. Go find a job which uses your present experience but sells services that are exportable overseas. Like technical sales and consulting. Follow the money.
