Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

We Need a Union, Time To Push Back

Rumors say 25% layoff this year. It’s time to push back, we need to unionize and protect our jobs.

We need to make sure management feels the sting of the bad decisions they make over and over again.

A union doesn’t have to be political. We can protect each other, give the people who really do the work a voice.

COP corporate celebrated the lay off announcements, the end of work from home. They look at us as replaceable cogs.

Let’s Unionize and push back.
Let’s get this party started.

This is what happens when COP went the way of XOM and CVX creating a ton of jobs that dont add value and WANT you to be a replaceable cog. They have to bring some kind sanity back into the G&A and stop with some of these eight word titles that do 10% of a job.

I am not aware of anyone who celebrated the end of working from home.
It might be part of the same rumor you heard about 25% cuts?
You are setting yourself to be laughed at if you try to start your union and we end up having small cuts.
I am not really sure what the union was going to do for you? Can you explain that?

Will Elon be consulting on the cuts?

I think they unionized in Canada so we will see how much they are protected.

10-25% seems right. Chevron is cutting 20% and we all know how much our leadership likes to pretend to be like the Big Boys. Going to be a miserable fall.

@a2+1jpwd9hc9 If you have no regrets, then why are on this message board? Strikes me as odd

Rumors are rumors. You say 25%, I've heard 10% and in the end no one knows. There's truth to the recent email... if they had a definite target at this point, even if it was 50%, I do believe they'd say so. I also believe, as they said in the beginning, it's not an headcount exercise so... if your job isn't important or can be done cheaper or more efficiently, then there's a cost savings opportunity and I'd be concerned.

at will employment has been around for years pros you can leave at anytime cons companies can ask you to leave anytime

when you signed your offer you knew what you were getting into

also COP has been known as a sh:t company for years no surprise they are

OP, you ARE a replaceable cog. If you don’t like it you can leave. That’s exactly what I did and so far I have zero regrets. Life is definitely better without COP.
