Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

200 new hires in IT in upcoming months.

Lots of shortages in the past few months due to people leaving or taking voluntary leave. Cant blame them. My team is/was impacted. Told to do more with less while they tighten the sc--ws. Puts middle management like me in a tough spot. Have to deliver, but not enough people in the team.

After months of IT teams being overworked, I finally have some good news. 200 new people have been hired for the Houston office. Will take some time to onboard, but it's happening guys and gals. Relief is coming. Spent last few weeks interviewing folk people in Bangalore and Chennai. Offers have been extended and h1b paperwork has started. Paying for premium processing, so should happen quicker.

Hoping we can have them on the ground here in Houston by Q3 and make our teams productive again.

You must be talking about the INhuman energy company ChevrIn formerly known as Chevron

H1B lottery is on Monday. They may be bringing over new hires to be trained but they’re def not sponsoring H1B

Chevron does not sponsor H1Bs. Best case scenario they would come from staff augmentation firms (ex. TCS) from India with US operations. Trump administration is closely monitoring their racist US employment practices of discriminating against anyone who isn't from India, so I doubt they hire anymore this year on H1B.

I believe they are bringing people to Houston so they can train the new employees that will work in "the Injun". Many US IT employees will be given transition jobs for 6 to 12 months to train the new Indian staff. People will be so disgusted with training their replacements before they are laid off the morale will be zero. But this is the expectation of the ELT and the remaining managers will be measured on cross training the new employees. Makes me want to vomit.
