Yes, sitting in the office all day on teams/zoom is completely pointless. Yet here we are and that's exactly what they want. They don't understand that in office doesn't mean in person. The work environment is different now. Collaboration happens over the computer and not in a conference room.
They're creating more of a problem where people will be doing less due to resentment, lack of respect for employees, low pay, and poor working conditions. We should all show up and chat all day. At least we'll check the box of being in office

This is unfair and inconsistent. American Girl employees have not been asked to go into the office because they sold their buildings!

@18m+1jpr4w4w2 obviously they mean people who live far away enough from campus that they can’t commute and would be given an option to relocate. Not the people who stay home because commuting to the office to sit on teams all day is pointless.

If your one of the chosen few who relocated out of ES you may be safe but most are not. I wouldn't ride my families well being on that hope.
Leadership is done with remote work. Crackdown on in office work is coming from the VP level. Even Mgrs that were never in the office before COVID are now showing up.

@11c+1jpr4w4w2 I’m not buying it. Employees who relocated to work remotely were given assurances that it wouldn’t be an issue down the road.

@15z+1jpr4w4w2 that su-ks but my advice is try and see it as an opportunity; talk to your manager about your concerns and I bet you can use them as leverage to get a raise.

It's already starting. ES remote employees are being told to go into the office or find another job.

Place lies to you constantly. Was hired under the hybrid work structure. Now told I have to go in or else.

This is not what I signed up for. Took a lower paying job at Mattel for flexibility. Now they want me to work in office and still the lower pay. Why would anyone take the lower pay with no flexibility along with all the instability and constant layoffs. Company is run but id--ts who all think they are geniuses. Soon enough you'll have no one left.

Goodbye

2020 and 2021 were financially great years. Remote work schedules contributed to that in a positive way. Useless meeting were reduced and had an impact on productivity. You don’t need 25 people in the same room to choose the color of a Barbie fashion or Hot Wheels paint color. How about that “growth mode “ plan??

Remote workers next on the chopping block. Prepare yourselves.

Leadership planning to eliminate remote workers. You'll have 2 options: Relocate to a location where you can go into the office or get laid off.

Place is clearly run by old people with old ways of thinking. With thinking like this no wonder the company is going the way of the dodo bird.

Email being drafted by HQ requiring everyone back in the office. Flexible work conditions now only work one way ..... You can take night meetings from home in addition to your normal hours.

Jokes on them. Good luck getting people to work after 5 now

Did any of the VP’s at FP get let go?

“It is what management does, not what they say”. They mismanage, struggle to make current top line revenue, can’t grow new businesses, waste money and f()ck up. The FP leader now , BFITZ¥arri$ was clueless in ES years ago and still can’t figure out the mess. He is not any better than Ch()ckie.

The EA campus is a mess. Buildings need major improvement. Stop rearranging the offices twice a year and focus on making the space usable. Give people high walls with major divisions from floor to ceiling to reduce noise. It's impossible to focus with current setup. Productivity actually decreases when in the office.

Spot on assessment of EA campus. Diminishing profits and creativity have even rendered the “Slide” on EA campus a non-selling point. Mattel management always been an inverted pyramid. Take what you can while you can. Management is!

How about get rid of 90% of marketing who do nothing? Get rid of all the outsourcing of departments which is bleeding us dry with no results, IT? Whole place is mismanaged by Execs who prioritize short term gain for bonus over long term growth and profitablity. Get rid of all the special interest groups that accomplish nothing. This is not a college...focus on work that produces something. Gut HR and legal who are useless and do nothing but get in the way. Place is a den managerial elite vampires su-king the life out of the company at the expense of the everyday employees.

How do we grow while cutting everything? How does getting rid of hybrid work improve the bottom line? They should be limiting in office work to essential only and downsizing the office space. Could also do 3 days in office and WFH for 2 days for everyone. Save on utilities. Get rid of HK and China office. Build some high volume automatable product in US. Get rid of top heavy MGMT. Mattel is an inverted pyramid. Eliminate wasteful promotion campaigns that are a holdover from the 90s.

This is exactly what they need. More quit so that we can all fit in the new building. Not enough room for everyone in the smaller building.

Force everyone back in the office to justify the boondoggle new building they just purchased. Half of ES will quit with RTO mandate or just not show up. There's clearly no way forward for Mattel. Best we can hope for is someone to buy us out and fire the VP+ levels.

Around 20 let go in Mattel EA.

Meanwhile no one will show up in the ES office.

First they take away benefits, 1% reduction 401k match, set paid vacation for when you leave, removal of half-day Fridays without reduction of the workday. Then they tout flexible work conditions and then back to 4 day office. Why would anyone show up? Clearly the Execs don't give a cr-p about employees. Ynots just taking the company for as much as he can get. Good luck with Mattel movies. 🤣

You can't have it both ways. Either give back the flexibility or the benefits. There're also moving to a lower salary with higher bonus pay structure. That way they can sc--w you out of more 401k match and not give bonus anytime they please.

Definitely closing FP down. Only about 250 people left. Campus is a ghosttown.

Now they want everyone in office 4 days a week in that sh---y campus that's falling apart where you can't concentrate or do any serious work. Want people back in office....build real offices with walls where people can do work/meetings in a quiet environment.
