Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

If you care about your mental and physical health, get out of this place. I know many can't just up and quit, but everyone can spare an hour or two a week to start looking for something better. This place is poison. I genuinely don’t have a better way to describe it. It’s toxic, and it will destroy you, body and soul.

If youre there, I'm sorry. I was riffed about 4 years ago when they sent 200 BA3 level jobs to India and the Philippines. I got to train 10 people to replace me. From someone who has been in your shoes--hang in there and do the minimum (even if it against your work ethic) and let them pay you to go. Take every bit of time and dollar you can and if they sent your job overseas (RIF and Hire scheme which they are known for), you have a right to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) through the US Department of Labor. DO IT! The company ends up having to pay more for you to go away. I promise you'll be better off and be glad to be gone. Hang in there.

I would suggest. Don’t just quit but be prepared with updated work profiles, add new skills. Once RIF with SUP, try get another job ASAP and get half of the remain SUP payment in lump sum. I did the same and happy to get additional 2 months of pay with new job that pays more than these s**kers

This company has become increasingly toxic. This has happened over the past 10 yrs. Micromanagement of staff, a constant belief that this needs to be done because "staff are lazy" - the abuse of a salaried employee "if you have to stay over, you are salaried, that is how it works" - systems that don't work, apparently no money to fix anything. It is the culture - totally toxic. You cannot move out of a dept because they block you and use "rules" they made up to prevent it - I agree look around and get out - you won't be missed -

Heck no. I’m not giving up 6 months of paid time off (severance). I’ll stay here till they lay me off.

Maybe you should take some time to not hate your job/work you do. It is great you have identified an enemy(your current workplace). But really aren't you just mad? You never started your own company, made something in real life or did whateverITis. In 50 years will someone look back and say yeah that was the era of Anthem treating Larry bad. Oh poor Larry. Or Larry kicked a-s and did "This amazing thing"!!!

You only have one life go out there and GET IT DONE.

Agreed, OP. Putting the effort into updating your resume and interviewing can do wonders for your health. Hang in there, you'll find something better.
