Yes, Mega was hit.
Does anyone know if Mega was hit?
Where’s a link to the list of titles removed?
So with the WARN Act. Should they or did they do the 60 day notice someplace?
The WARN notice reports 120 layoffs in ES, which exceeds the entire cube + office space available on an entire floor at the ES Tower HQ and represents a 32% increase compared to the 91 layoffs in ES in 2023.
Publicly available information shows Mattel employs around 2,000 people across the ES buildings. By extrapolation, this is a 6% layoff.
Note that the 120 layoffs in the WARN notice is for El Segundo only and do not include employees from San Bernardino, remote workers in California, other U.S. locations, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, or Asia. Many who were given the boot were marginal performers or had roles others could be absorbed by others, like marketing, sales, or analysts. Those less essential roles are always at risk during every layoff.
But some of the names I heard let go are highly skilled, key employees who led entire functions. This was not just trimming the fat; it was a significant cost-cutting move based on non-rational thinking. The cracks were already forming from year after year of cost cutting with no growth. Cut actually good people who were doing 90% of the work and see how well those remaining can keep this dam from breaking.
Soon, anyone with real talent will leave. Say hello to a wasteland of mediocrity and offshore IT support.
basically if you haven't left and you made it through this layoff you better start looking for a way out. you have no value to them here other than what you can do in the moment. beyond that don't expect anything will save you. this is not your home. You have been lulled into a false sense of security and relinquished control of your own destiny. better think about taking it back folks. you owe them nothing.
How bad was ES?? I keep hearing rumors
