My job is posted less than 2 months after the gave me a cost reduction lay off. They offered a severance package if sign a release of claim & do not try to get rehired for 2 years. Is this legal? How can they claim cost savings then hire a replacement at same pay rate they were paying me?

My boss once told me "If I wanted love, buy a dog".
When I gave my 4 day notice I told him "If you want loyalty, buy a dog".
There is no love at P&W or Raytheon. A heartless place where laws are broken all the time.
Just read about the $1B fine they received for ethical violations. But make sure to take your ethics classes LOL.
What group is this? They are backfilling roles that were affected, but with lower grade levels
They realized after the layoff that your role was critical.
There are likely exceptions if you really want to get back in and someone pulls for you.
that stinks!
Your replacement will be hired at a lower rate than what they were paying you.
That's their cost savings.
Yes, it's legal.
They can pay whatever anyone is willing to accept, as long as it's above minimum wage.
