Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

A pig in makeup is still a pig in makeup

Why are the managers trying to rebrand themselves as “leaders”. That’s only true about a small % of the managers here.

It annoys me so much when my boss tried to use that internal marketing bs. I have a business degree, they were hired off the street. My manager doesn’t even understand why they are switching the words.

I had coaching where my manager who tried to brand themselves as a “leader” waste 15 minutes of my 30 minute coaching trying to repeat what their manager explained to them as something so weird and complex. They were talking about a bell curve.

So much waste and inefficiency

@pr+1jpcz731q, I was thinking the same. But, are you Fidelity HR now actively participating in the discussion and pushing Fidelity's narrative? If yes, it's a welcoming move than simply zeroing out the votes on all the posts.

“you set up day care and parental care for every other week. IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!”

No it doesn’t work that way. If you have a child who needs day care, they should be in day care every day. How are you caring for a baby or toddler and doing your job? You’re not.

I’m convinced only people who left fidelity frequent this site. The most seething vengeful people who have a bone to pick with fidelity. Aka trolls.

Picture this: leadership has MULTIPLE teams show up to a 1:1 to avoid hearing the hard truth. They can't find 15 minutes/ year to meet with someone that ultimately reports to them? I guess skip-levels went out the window with WFH. Fidelity can't figure out why they don't have control of their employees. YOU'RE WEAK FIDELITY, ALL YOU CAN DO IS THREATEN PEOPLE WITH THEIR JOBS! YOU ARE WEAK!

WAIT, DOES FIDELITY SUPPORT TRUMP?? I SEE THE CORRELATION, MAKE EVERYONE MISERABLE.

WEAK!

Hey Fidelity, why don't you let people pick when and where they work within the US. Who cares what office right, we are already on unrealistic schedules, every other week what a joke. you set up day care and parental care for every other week. IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!

GROW A PAIR AND LEAD THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY YOU SCARED FOOLS.

Most annoying term ever at Fidelity was "Thought Leader." As if only a chosen few at the company had brain power dubbed worthy by senior leadership.
Meanwhile the rest of us were merely meat with eyes, scurrying about then ba----g into one another.

What senior executives need to realize is managers/leaders cannot do the job expected of them when they don’t understand and cannot do the jobs of their direct reports. Then those management employees are left in the same role for years or decades.

Abby should eliminate many of the management roles and watch how little impact it has on the day to day work. Individual contributors are the backbone of the company. Too many managers are the dead weight slowing things down,

Save the company money and become more efficient and effective!

It’s all hollow titles. First they are managers, then directors, now leaders (I’m sure I’m missing a few in between). It’s all branding and marketing that everyone sees through. No matter what title you give them the end result is still the same. WORTHLESS. A building custodian at a school is a sanitation engineer!

This issue appears across regions but seems particularly pronounced in India. Many of these so-called “leaders,” who contribute very little to actual deliverables, spend much of their time conducting team meetings that prove largely unproductive. They engage in empty leadership discussions while being fully aware of their own ineffectiveness. Yet, they frequently refer to themselves as leaders despite offering no real value. The only time they seem to undertake any real tasks is during visits by managers from US where they trail behind senior figures—cracking jokes, fetching coffee, ushering them from one meeting to another, and generally striving to keep them satisfied by arranging tours and dinners. Meanwhile, most of the genuine work is done by Grade6 and below .Their contributions are often appropriated by GCLs and CLs, who showcase them as a testament to their leadership prowess—even though they had little to no direct involvement in the actual work
