Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

The nightmare is nearly over

Hopefully once the dust settles we can go back to being a great place to work where people rarely quit.

Im sure there are some transitional goals that must be met as part of the sales agreement. They'll need at least some people to meet them. Operational folks - Make an impression w zayo while ur doing it. The nepos in shared services won't have that same opportunity. Make the best of it.

@d0+1jp8ptb2n I got out 8/31 and took a new role same day. Took a time off to relax before u started the new job. We are the lucky ones for sure. I hope that my peers who remain fond their way out and into better companies. I worked there 14 years and was so ready to leave.

Look at the positives fiber enterprise will finally be able to focus on its core bussiness with a management team that actully understands its a constant churn & burn. .. all while small cells & towers can F themselves with the purple & 3B nonsense.. can't wait to bleed orange

All depends on how they will integrate CCF into Zayo. Still need operational level folks but do they need a bunch of DMs, Region VPs and legal/business strategy/business support. Short term is targeted reductions based on sales terms and the final changes at cut over. We need a smooth cutover and that Zayo has a solid team/plan to manage the integration.

Guys you don’t work for Crown anymore. Crown is done with you. They don’t care if they fire everyone and nothing gets built or fixed. Network is not part of their earnings whatever happens that’s the buyers problem. They are focused on towers. The last thing they want is to keep you on and paying you.

Folks need to wake up. ZAYO has ZERO reason to pay severance. They run lean and mean. The purchase price is set. WHY would they spend another cent? The folks separated in June, as it turns out, were the fortunate ones.

The work is not the issue, the leadership is. All quality leaders have been forced out of Crown. Is there one good leader left that I am missing?

@ay+1jp8ptb2n it depends on the contractual details and if it is designated as an asset sale. This is more of a fiber asset sale to Zayo. Crown Castle itself remains an entity after the fiber asset sale with its tower business.

In the case of a prior acquisition, let’s use Lightower as an example. Crown acquired them in 2017 and kept most of their staff because it was full acquisition of the company, not just the company’s fiber assets. This is not the same as Crown acquiring Lightower in 2017.

I've been a part of 4 acquisitions, and never once have had to re-apply. So that's definitely not a given.

The nightmare will continue. You think any of the details have been worked out. They will expect you to keep working like a good worker and keep you on the hook before they let you go. You will spend the next year asking the same questions on town halls and get no answers

Even with the sale of fiber, Crown will never get back to the great workplace it previously was…

Can zayo even afford to provide generous severance if they just spent billions on our failing fiber segment? Took probably most of their resources to purchase fiber.

@aj+1jp8ptb2n, i think thats exactly what will happen too. look at the other companies who had the same thing happen — employees are usually terminated and forced to reapply at the buying company.

This is far from over. The new company could make everyone reapply and compete against the street for the job you are doing now. Who keeps the remaining buildings? What will happen to the RSUs? So many open ended things, the announcement is just the beginning.

The valuable employees will be kept, the ones adding no value will be gone. You'll know which you are based on what happens.

Few questions/points I have after todays news:

  • Are Crowns fiber employees effectively terminated now?
  • Does Zayo have to rehire Crown fiber staff, or do Crown fiber staff automatically become employees of Zayo?
  • Hopefully Zayo offers generous severance…..
