Thread regarding Collins Aerospace layoffs

RIF impacts I detect labor employees

Our SBU had a minimal RIF. Leadership team was very honest and open when they discussed with our site.

From what I understand, only indirect employees were laid off. I’ve been through several of these and had a sense it was coming.

Apparently the mandate was a certain percentage of RIF across all of Collins.

Not sure if it’s because some sites are held to unattainable earning expectations or if they are poorly managed.

What I do know is that the people who no longer have a job had nothing to do with a systemic issue. I’ve checked the org charts on teams and it’s already accounted for the people who were let go.

I think if their status color is black and you can’t access their org charts, they likely are no longer employed.

Not sure of the total number of people. Our site was fortunate. But it’s just a shame to know so many people who showed up and did their best got let go because of a problem they didn’t create…

My husband was laid off yesterday. He was a Quality Engineer at Collins in Melbourne Florida. He got a great review and a raise on Wednesday and was let go Thursday at 9am. His manager didn't even know it was happening.

By “1 of 2 Quality individuals”, are you referring to R——d?

I’m a little puzzled with how they choose these individuals. We have so much work to do for multiple programs, with only 2 individuals from quality working them. Making sure everything is safe to proceed. They let go 1 of the 2 individuals. They were already working 14hr days, yet now 1 individual can take the all the work? Very frustrating, even the manager walked out and quit. They could’ve picked an LA or a tech using overhead.. not quality that’s slammed.

I agree with you. Lost 10 great salary employees in Colorado Springs today. Seval I work daily with on projects. They contributed fully with integrity. With the rumors floating about, I am curious if some segments of Collins will be sold off by end of the year.
