Interested to hear what comments or results caught your attention. Among other stuff, there was a change in the projected Cigna acquisition closing date, with the word “early” being dropped from 2025.

You should have seen by now that the sale completed this morning. Cigna people are now part of HCSC.
I just commented on the Cigna site, but I heard today the word “confident” that the sale will close tomorrow (3/19). I shrugged it off because we’ve heard so many theories over the last few months but now that other people are chatting about it here, maybe it’s true.
Cigna MA here. It’s news to us if it closed. No announcement yet.
Another thread says the sale just closed…
Not being political but it’s totally relevant to bring the current administration’s actions into the delays. I don’t think the post that blamed his voters was referring to the initiation of the deal but the administration is definitely causing an impact to it now. If you don’t know why then maybe do some research to understand it.
There are wide investigations into MA UHC (not saying it’s unwarranted), and with all the layoff back and forth for federal employees, and the impact that causes to other non-federal business, HCSC would be wise to be cautious. Remember, we have many employees that support the federal business, which decreases if employees are laid off. Also, businesses layoff because of the financial implications caused by the administration’s decisions(tariffs, grants, etc.) which in turn impact our group business. If there are any changes made to ACA(Trump tried this is first go around, so expect it) then that’ll impact our IFM line. There are many more outliers that should cause HCSC to hesitate following through, and they are absolutely caused by the current administration; therefore those that voted for him.
I think Cigna employees are coming here to see what HCSC is saying because they don't trust Cigna MA leadership. Still hearing 1st quarter with less than two weeks to close.
Anything new on when Cigna close is happening, or if it is at all? Is it still Q1 or now 2025 in general?
Oh ye of little faith.
LOL " It's not healthy to be that obsessed with someone." ...From the people who idolize an orange painted man. It's a cult. TDS is actually referring to the cult members who worship him.
Alright, whatever helps you feel better. I'm not the one seeing a boogeyman everywhere. All I am saying is it is not good to become fixated on a single person and tying yourself in knots trying to circle everything back to your obsession. Great big world out there. Go enjoy it.
Cracks me up when low IQ people use TDS. It lets everyone know you're having a meltdown
What the heck does the current administration have to do with anything here? This sale happened early last year and they have had zero involvement in it. Seems like you may just be battling a bit of TDS. Not everything involves him you know. It's not healthy to be that obsessed with someone.
If any Cigna employees voted for the current administration, congrats! You are getting what you wanted!
Does anyone have insight to the protocol for finalizing the Cigna MA transaction? From my understanding, the federal government gave initial approval and all but one state has approved as well. If the last state approves, will it have to go back to the federal government for final approval?
If so, with the current climate surrounding DOGE, it might take some time for the federal workforce to address this issue.
This thing has already taken over a year. We might be in limbo for even longer 😡
MA is definitely not what it once was. The current administration looking into UHC business now and that alone is going to make everything around MA less appealing.
We've been told for the last two months NY is the only state pending and a few weeks ago were even told the draft approval was granted, but then nothing happened. So I think we really have no idea. It is interesting that Cigna's CEO chose to dump a bunch of stock a week ago. That makes me suspect there is a problem with the sale and he knows it.
NY is the only state pending approval
Medicare Advantage is going to be the default choice for new enrollees under this new administration. This means lots of new business. It appears HCSC is in a good position to capitalize on this once this deal goes through. Cigna's loss is HCSC gain.
In this political climate and the recession kicking off as the stock market plummets... is it really the time for a traditionally risk-averse company like HCSC to drop a lot of cash on this?
The rumors are interesting, but Cigna wants to dump the business, and HCSC wants to use the transaction as a springboard to a national presence. Seems like a good fit. State DOI approval is necessary in every market, there could be lots of delays inherent in that process. On the other hand, not sure if the MA market is the prize it once was; HCSC missed the gravy train even before the Cigna transaction. Might be wrong.
I'm on the Cigna side and there is a growing feeling here that the sale may be in danger. It's not being said out loud by leaders but lots of off the record conversations.
I agree that the longer the Cigna Medicare transaction drags on, the less likely it seems it will happen.
Can you expand on what was said in regards to closing date? Cigna MA employee here. Wishing we would be told the truth.
I will be 100% shocked if it ever happens.
