Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It's sad to hear that

I think that the employees here are more than ever convinced that those who are friends with their superiors are safer than those who are great employees but are not part of the clique.
How does Intel intend to be competitive with such a corporate culture, if there is less and less room for innovation and the best employees who actually add value?

It is sad, but the plain truth is that its a sinking ship, unlike the Titanic - which it once was - you wont die a physical death, and everyone knows both of these to be true. So many many folks with their pockets already deeply full of cash are merely riding it out, have enough to retire on and waiting for the sink to ship. Right now theres a few holes and its able to stay afloat , but in the environment OP describes , its just a matter of time.

Tell your manager that you are willing to do house chores for him. Also any errands. It will help to avoid your layoff. Especially if you have South Indian manager it will help greatly.

If you are new to your team. Get with your manager and be honest with them. In your next 1:1 take 15 minutes for your new manager to re-get to know you. Talk to your past experiences and skills they may not be aware of. Be proactive.

You have to have a good relationship with your manager and your team. You should have left a long time ago if this was never true.
