After 20+ years at Intel I retired earlier this year. Like Daniel, I too could read the writing on the wall, and it said "leave now" and avoid the massacre later." In my time at Intel I have observed far too many bad decisions by upper management. Just about every acquisition has been a bust. Investment in new technology is delayed until it's too late. Politicking is more important than innovation. The list goes on and on.

And you missed a severance package also.
Obviously you are not enjoying your retirement since you are here. Sounds like you miss your importance, otherwise why should you care.
