This latest vaporware will fade away faster than a f.a.r.t in the wind.

Where’s eagle?
Where’s crypto anchor verifier?

We are somewhat to blame because we keep allowing them to defraud us and shareholders every time we let these PR stunts slide until they disappear down the memory ho-e.

IBM under AK has transitioned to “hybrid cloud” which can be translated to mainframe all the time with a couple of Niche markets thrown in (AI and Redhat SW modernization emphasis) So when you say all of the developers went to AMD and Nvidia let me ask you Do any of these guys do mainframe? Simple answer is NOPE and the explanation is they were working on designs that IBM has chosen not to play in moving forward. (strategy shift) The article clearly lays this out by saying the new AI chip is based on Tellum. Where have we heard Tellum before OH thats right mainframe. Start paying attention to the strategy shift that AK is implementing. Its mainframe Why Because that’s where IBM has a monopoly, and it’s where the competition isn’t. IBM can’t afford to be all things to all customers anymore. Ginni squandered that to the point that it’s unrecoverable. So AK has set the strategy and it’s Mainframe, AI, hybrid cloud, and SW modernization using Redhat. Everything else was viewed as a cost that IBM couldn’t afford anymore and it’s being abandoned or sold off. Who says that? Wallstreet says that

"IBM had world class chip designers and tools to make it happen."

Fixed that for you. All of the world class chip folks went to AMD and Nvidia.

IBM has world class chip designers and tools to make it happen. This is one part of IBM that has not been throttled back. It appears this chip uses all of the world class techniques (think z16 or P10 innovations) to make a Nividia competitor. IBM doesn’t drive volumes as they are now focused on primarily enterprise customers, BUT IBM wants/needs performance due to their enterprise customers demands and that’s what this chip delivers. It’s a niche market focused on performance

Another half-baked desperate idea. Google and Microsoft will come up with a similar idea and blow IBM out of the water....again.
