Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

No performance ratings…

One townhall explicitly stated that performance ratings would not be used in selections…

But we want to keep the best..?

And if you say performance ratings are biased, then why do we even do it? Just as a farce to power raises? Or lack thereof?

AI will be used on our talent cards to pair people with jobs using keywords. It's similar to how applicant tracking systems when you apply to jobs normally knows whether to auto reject you or forward your resume to an actual person. So do good keywords for your talent profile.

My boss who is an experienced manager from outside recently told me that our PMP process is the worst he has seen - LOTS OF GAMING... he know folks leaving Chevron had a wake up call on other companies focused on true results.

This is a good thing... I'm never impressed with folks getting promotions and exceeds... mostly just brown-nosers

CVX is like the current administration. Hire based on loyalty and make cuts with a chainsaw. As long as the top 1% get rich everything will be OK.

It’s hilarious that on a general post, folks like @a6+1jnsdqjdt, manage to make it all about IT. There’s other parts of the company don’t you know?!? Sounds like IT is ripe for some solid cuts.

Performance ratings are a farce and they will utilize against you if they don’t like you! I’ve seen it time and time again. It’s a retribution tool for some and a tool to help the so called hi-pots. A horrible process!!!

It’s to protect against about lawsuits. Since the new rating system is subjective and uncalibrated, you’ll probably have people who had lower rankings selected over people with higher ratings. Keeping the ratings “out” is a legal fig leaf. I’m not sure how that actually works since supervisors, sponsors and PDRs can see the ratings. And it would all be discoverable in a lawsuit.

If performance was the damn criteria, all these clowns under the LC org would’ve been fired ages ago for the sh-tshow they created after that pathetic 2020 reorg. Keeping a job here has nothing to do with talent — it’s all about knowing some a-s-kissing, decision-making pr--k. What a sh---y, rotten company… though honestly, most companies are the same corrupt, backstabbing mess — just a few might be exceptions. Now let’s wait for LC to drag in his useless, bootlicking buddies form GM for all those interim positions. Absolute bullsh-t.

CVX is a joke on hiring practices. Their normal practice when looking at an internal candidate does not allow you to see their previous performance reviews.

CVX has never been concerned with putting the best people in jobs.

Also, talent profile will not be used. Meaning any of the items not on your immediate talent card (such as your assessment or PMP goals/achievements) will not be considered. Asked and answered in QA on Thursday.
