Buyout

Are the VRSP roles not allowed to be backfilled? Or are these reviewed on a case by case basis? Or would they just move people around in the dept as to not backfill or add but could shuffle things around so that more needed roles are filled?

There will be a huge re-org and not a back fill if they can help it. If there is too much work after, they will simply offshore more work. Even if not many from your specific area did not take the buyout, other areas did. Expect the Great Workforce Reshuffle whether you are interested in moving into the new role they need in you in or not.

They can backfill these and are already planning to open up new claims classes because there were too many takers in claims but the work is still there. So they will let good people go through the buyout, hire new people to cover the slack, then lay off again when offshore/AI is ready for the workload. The insanity is real.

You were a manager ! Why would you care about anything going forward?

I’m a Manager. I accepted the buyout. I made a recommendation for my replacement and was told I would not be replaced.

They are not getting backfilled. I know of an assistant director who applied and was approved. They are doing re-orgs to accommodate for these losses.

Nonsense you can backfill a layoff immediately just eliminate the old job role create a new one called something else and carry on. Wordsmith the responsibilities and you are golden at lower cost

They can backfill the role if it’s a voluntary resignation (VSRP). They’re paying you to quit. It’s not a true layoff.

Some of the roles can be backfilled as the remaining people are moved around, so they won’t be hiring, but they’ll move from one team to another.

You can't backfill a role that was eliminated in a layoff until 6 months out.
