I work at a golden store and one of our salaried managers who has been here for many years was let go this week.
I feel like the store manager has influence and if they like the person they will fight for them but if they don’t , then they get the ax.
——-Belk corporate ultimately wants only one salaried person in the building—— which would be the store manager——they also want to eliminate all customer non facing roles and have management absorb those duties———HR lead is one of the first hourly non customer facing role that they want eliminated , they will give those tasks to the store manager———-it’s coming soon, this is round one of three rounds.
If a store only has a store manager and 1 other salary manager there is 0% chance they can lay off another position. A store manager can not run a store with just a few leads. Now having more than 2-4 salary positions is a completely different story. Layoffs will probably only affect bronze doors as most hometown stores only have a store manager and 1 other salary. Gold stores are probably safe as they always get special treatment
