Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Something coming

Multiple ICs questioned about WFH days. Some teams averaging below 2 days a week…as a team. SLT preparing for terminations or WFH being dropped?

Nope. We all got the talk. Bunch of micromanaging b-s. This is how they are going to cull for the next RIP. Mark my words. Managers having to justify staff not badging in like a bunch of hall monitors. F-Ulf!!! We are pi---d! We know we can do our jobs just as well remote without sitting in an office full of germs, farts and fish in the microwave.

This is just fear-mongering.
RTO has been underway with badge swipes being monitored since September 2023 when majority of remote employees were laid off and those that lived within 50 miles of an office needed to start going on 2-3 times a week.

This is all manager and team dependent. If your team averages less than 2 days a week they start drilling down into the individuals. If your collective team/department averages good attendance, you won’t be getting angry calls or a meeting encouraging you to come in more often.

The zscaler rumor is just a rumor. The new OOO is in the role now and has been aware of RTO concerns. Some people will never have to stay for 8hrs in office because their teams work in different cities and time zones. This is a huge company, just go to work like you’re supposed to and stop the rumors.

In the Bellevue offices, if you park in the garages, you badge in at the garage. There's no going through a manned security checkpoint. You then badge in at the elevator to your work floor from the parking garage. You then badge out on your floor back to the parking garage where you badge out. There used to be systems that would track your ins and outs at the garage doors for Bellevue.

Can this company please have a consistent policy for all employees? Some orgs have 30-50% fully remote while the others have to go in 3+ days a week. People are competing for promotions with remote workers who have the advantage of not needing to spend hours a day commuting or getting ready for work. Those remote workers can spend that time working or recharging which is a huge quality of work advantage aside from the obvious financial and time savings advantages

"No more giving your badge to a buddy to badge you in to meet RTO..."

How is that possible? Security is watching everyone that badges into the building. And if you're in a building with no security like an mso and someone is doing that both need to go, that's fraud.

Start in Central/Appalachian area. RF Engineering is only averaging 1 day a week in office.

Who the he-l gives a badge to their buddy... crazy! Didn't know that this was happening. Why not just make people swipe out? Seems to me that would be the easiest way to track the metrics.

Rumor says TMO is about to get metrics from the zScaler product to determine how long you are in the office and on what days. zScaler runs on your TMO laptop.

No more giving your badge to a buddy to badge you in to meet RTO...

No more coming in for just 2-3 hours each day to meet RTO...

Badge swipes are 100% being closely monitored by leadership. If you're not a remote employee and have been lacking going into the office, may want to consider heading in more often.

I’m not certain but I think a big change in WFH is coming once the new COO starts. After all, the COO is an operational expert and will do what is necessary for us to succeed.

This is org or leadership dependent. Don't anticipate an enterprise level change any time soon.
