When I was small, my father would take me and my brother over to my uncle's farm in Mississippi in January to help butcher hogs. You get the hogs in a small corral and you shoot the first in the head with a .22 rifle. Get in the corral with a rope, slit the throat and then drag it out for scalding, The other hogs never noticed except to go lick the blood out of the mud. The two other hogs would go the same way.
This is Chevron's third layoff. Life went on for the survivors. Nobody screamed. Now its your turn.
But they cried when they told you that they know their job is secure while you are probably losing yours….because they love you.

@a4+1jnp4f19d If you die tomorrow, your coworker would be at the bar the next night and your boss would be finding your replacement the next day. We’re mostly amicable with each other but we’re not family. Don’t get it twisted or you’re the su---r that people would take advantage of.
I consider some of my coworkers my "work family" that I have worked with throughout my career not just at Chevron but also other places, as well as contractors. But go ahead and make a childish joke, that's precious. I'm thinking someone has no friends or reliable business associates when they make these kind of comments. Sure, no one likes the je-k manager, etc. that we all have to deal with, but do you hate everyone you've ever worked with? Maybe try a different career, outside of industry, little more woke perhaps?
I get the joke and I think it's funny.
It's amusing they identify a problem that needs to be corrected but they don't acknowledge the leadership team has taken us down the wrong path.
This is like being divorced from a narcissistic spouse and he/she is gaslighting us.
