Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

I wish I could be done with Elevance

The workplace feels suffocating. Everything around you goes against what you belive in. Instead of growing, your talents sit unused and unappreciated.

No one notices your efforts or gives you a chance to shine. Each day feels like a drag... You push through but never get the recognition or opportunities you deserve.

I desperately want out but can't find anything right now. I hate my job and I hate my life.

Get out of Health Insurance. There is no future in it. Find a new line of work before you are too old. Between offshore, rebadge and RIF, it's pretty obvious the gig is up for this company.

Offshore has taken our work, but now we are helping them catch up? Make it make sense

This is exactly how I felt before I resigned last month. I still don't have a job but I'm much happier now. I'll probably take a 50% pay cut to teach, and I'll be happy about it.

If you hate life I suggest talking to your doctor about an anti depressant. This will help with your overall mental health. When you find a new job you can always stop them.

Seriously, just hang in there and keep applying for jobs. The market it horrible right now, I was Rif'd last year and i'm still looking. One thing I have learned is that most modern candidate screening is by AI, so make sure you have keywords in your resume.

If you are under 45, you need to get out of healthcare because it's only going to get worse.

You are taking your job way too seriously !! After the downfall started , I work around 6 hours and of my boss pushes me to do something extra , I just say” have too much going on - can I handle it tomorrow or is it urgent “
He also acknowledges the fact that most of us are demotivated and says “ that’s ok. I am getting some workout at the on -premise gym reading these forums on my treadmill. Getting paid Ok, know my boundaries, not going to give more than 85% of my energy here .

Keep applying for positions, the job market is very tough right now. Just hang in there until you can find another position. I was in the November Rif and i'm still looking for a job, with out very much success and its starting to wear on me.

There’s not a single company in IT industry in America or anywhere that cares about culture and employee satisfaction. It’s a dog eat dog world. Unfortunately, EH culture never cared about people E14 and below. Directors, Sr Directors and Staff VPs and above all have their hands tied as it trickles down from above (atleast they say so). There’s no individuality among directors and they don’t stand up for us as they don’t want their leader to RIF them or abuse them.

Pls don’t hate your life because this place doesn’t give you the recognition. It’s time to look elsewhere. Don’t give up. Keep your head up and stay positive. The culture is changing here so trust me, it’s not just you.

Talent leaves because it can - or it retires along with a bunch of folks who plan on it shortly and will take their extensive experience with them. I takes a year to figure out how to work at this place and 5 yrs to get any real experience that will allow you to push back on stupidity with credibility. This place has become TOXIC. Directors have a cake walk - they harass, punish, ignore Managers and then give them chitty merit - most are not "people leaders" - just watch them. Above the Director level is even worse. Clueless on the life a daily workers, and agree to performance guarantees that cannot be achieved just to "get more business" then ride the people who can't meet them because the data is BS and the language of the PG's are set up to fail.

"Kid," @a2+1 ? Feel better about yourself, now? Spoken like a typical EH lifer ja----s.

Hang in there, OP. Keep interviewing, focus on self care, and looking into other opportunities. It will happen.

We all just need to stop believing in the lie that we all need fulfilling work. Sometimes a job is just a job. It would be great if companies cared and valued us but any publicly traded company just cares about stock prices and nothing else. Learn to be fulfilled outside of work to be happy. Stop giving this company extra because you won’t get extra. Spend time giving extra to your friends and family that do care

@a2+1 Spoken like a lifelong employee of EH. Or one of many lazy managers at this company. There are employers that treat employees much better than this company does. From an employee that is working on exiting this place...
