Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

There’s always time to do it right. Unless it’s a reorg.

Will someone in LT just stand up and admit that this is a mess and has ended up playing out the worst way possible. It won’t deliver the promised change and pretty much the only ones who will win are the consultants.

Use uncertainty around the Hess deal or tariffs or whatever as an excuse, but please someone be the adult in the room and use stop work authority to pause the mess until they solve the obvious issues. The urgency is artificial. There’s always time to do the job right. Right?

We are all witnessing the cold calculated self-serving machinations of “the corporate mandate”. All decisions ultimately serve the demand for ever greater profits, qtr after qtr, ad nausium.
Bottom line performance by any means necessary. The corporation itself is a ruthless entity, And I mean all corporations by their very nature are profit seeking and place value on humanity only to the extent which they serve the ultimate motive; increased profitability.

I heard that the expectation was for 2000+ AEOIs mostly from San Ramon and near retirement age employees in Houston. The few I’ve talked to who tell me they pushed the button are younger and in Houston.

Make no mistake, they’ve been working on this for over 1 year. IMO: there’s no excuse for not having Org design done.

I'm shocked at the levels of AEOI I'm learning about when having discussions with colleagues. People I thought intended on staying here are raising their hands.

I'm told that the ELT doesn't care about OC, but the fact of the matter is that there are accelerated expressions of interest coming from the boots on the ground jobs that can't be transferred to India. These are the folks that didn't work from home during the scamdemic. Not sure if it's re-org fatigue or being close to retirement, but it's definitely happening.

Venezuela is unfortunate, but what if there's an explosion in El Segundo, mistakes on the 10-Q, class action lawsuits, hostile shareholder takeover...things can get ugly quick when you sacrifice the values this company supposedly held sacred

I wanted to really help the company, but this is no environment to do so. The way it's been introduced and roll out just leaves a bad taste.

You’re 100% right. The rank and file are starting to become more vocal about this. We need to keep wearing down leadership team members, functional VPs until something sticks. They ARE human at the end of the day- just have to find the thing that doesn’t sit right with one of them.
