Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Project Manager roles

Please spare the Project Managers don’t do anything jokes…but what is the best department to be a PM at the bank? I’m talking projects actually have some assigned resources, a chance of getting done on time, etc.

Being honest here, look elsewhere. US Bank does not value PM's or understand the PM and BA relationships that can make projects ultimately successful. They are just looking at the bottom line and how many FTE's they can eliminate. A large number of PM's were eliminated last year and the rest will no doubt be removed this year in favor of offshore, or dumping the administrative part of small to medium sized projects on to offshore or tech BA's. They might keep a few around to help with larger projects, but your job security is definitely questionable in any department as is the success of any project done by US Bank.

All the PM roles will be in India soon (Cognizant). I'd look for work elsewhere

The PMs in the technical areas are official meeting goers. Most meetings could be replaced with a simple email or phone call but not our PMs. They first invite way more people than are required to answer their questions. Then, make the meetings last an eternity. Rooms packed with people so the PM can talk directly to a single person. So inefficient.

Don’t go to CBB. They don’t know what to do with project managers and the ones with the PM title are anything but.
