Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Any news?

SMs and above are having off site meetings this week. Anyone hear anything? We did hear from our TM they are doing a hiring freeze basically and now you have to have a degree to be considered for leadership. Execs going crazy about the expense problem they created.....

I live in a neighborhood with a bunch of WFH TMs, SCs, and on up. I love it when I know their on the laptop, on the phone, in a meeting etc so I can fire up my leaf blower, chainsaw, lawnmower, Regen a diesel engine, etc. They run for the house while sitting at the pool. So fun to watch them run in and out of the house for 3 hrs without bringing their laptop because car is parked in driveway because it can't fit in the garage because of garbage stacked ceiling high in it. Funny to watch them act like the big shot while their personal life is meaningless. Neighbors won't buy SF insurance because they won't support what they call nonsense.

SF WFH is the exact same as the government WFH. The taxpayers and the policyholder are getting ripped off. BRING THEM ALL INTO THE HUBS!

I'd love to see the WFH and inside employees make personal contact with a customer. The ship would sink and sink fast. WFH employees should be investigated. They are stealing time from the company.

If the company wasn't so tight lipped and became more transparent to the employees, you wouldn't have the problems you allude to.

People still commenting, with no facts, about speculation over meetings that have already taken place. No wonder we have problems.

When will all SM's be required to report to a hub and go into the office?

Bring em all back inside while there's no room to negotiate. No more WFH! Work or GTFO.

Curious as to why you think a Union would “prevent AI nonsense”. When the machines can do the job better, faster, cheaper…..you’ll just be banding together to all be replaced.

SF problem is simple to fix but they will not have a come to Jesus moment. The board and executive are corrupt and have zero ethics. They are there to service themselves and not the employees nor the customer. It is so obvious. They are no different than our government. They are so huge they have buried themselves and it is just a matter of time till things change. Criminals attract criminals and they eventually fight over turf just like animals. Illinois gangstas IMO.

yes i believe they would replace employees if they could with AI however AI is not quite there yet, don't get me wrong AI has made huge advances but not to the point of replacing employee yet, plus you have to consider licensing, you cannot have an AI be licensed so laws will have to change too, for now they still need employees but in the near future who knows, claims needs to get Unionized to prevent this AI nonsense, anyone who is employed in general should try to unionize now while AI is terrible to prevent this nonsense otherwise the minute employers can they will replace employees with AI everywhere.

Forget one crucial fact. Q: Can they do more with AI and with less people? A: If yes, they can put their talent in one hub and have better span of control and effective cost management. Don't ever think you are not replaceable! You are human capital and can be bought and sold at any time. Ask the government employees! Remember they sell you a line of BS as to how important you are to the customer and the company but in reality they'll dump you like a tu-d and not even blink an eye. Always be ready and have a back up.

All this talk of being em back in the office. Ya fools they closed all the offices. Major metro areas no office LA, New York, Tampa you name a city. SF is king in Illinois There is no office in metro Chicago. Wfh is all we can do. More gets done at home then in the office anyways. Less distractions better attitude not fighting traffic.

@14t……You realize the company’s preferred model is now the MOA? One agent with multiple offices. And they get that based purely on production. So huge staff, huge marketing buy in. Those agents clearly cannot be in three different places all day, and clearly will not be handling most customer interactions.
Dinosaurs like me who came out of claims and underwriting….and became agents who spent more time than anybody else in our offices—are either retired or soon to be.
The point being that YOUR idea of what agents should be doing all day is meaningless. SF rewards those who do what SF wants.

Agents make too much money with least amount of work. I don't know too many agents who are in their office more than 3 hrs per day. Their office staff does all the work. Agents like many other things are dinosaurs of the past. Retire/DOGE em

We just hired a bunch of new CSs in many departments to keep up with increased demand. No hiring freeze- still hiring. No plans for layoffs. WFH teams are the most productive over in-office. Believe nothing most of these people post. It's just angry grandpas p!ssed off that they didn't get to WFH.

Estimatics is actively consolidating teams and bringing more people in Office. They are getting ready to announce more in Office time, they know there isn't enough room so people will quit or retire early. People will be asked to temporarily support other segments under the inpression they will return but they will be offered permanent position or reinterview for their old position.

Watch your inventories in claims. If your inventory is low and you worked your tail off to get it there, more of a reason to eliminate your job. Sounds strange and you wou think you are appreciated but believe me, that is far from truth.

@bx+1. Spot on. Been there seen that and went through it. Insurance is one of two of the highest costs for consumers. It's time to press a reset button in insurance just like government. Too many high expenses passed onto consumer. Everything from airplanes, executives, agents, and adjusters need to be put under the microscope and become a dissected expense. Long overdue. Mgmt sleeping in till 10 am and working 4 hrs a day is an unwanted expense as well. People working at home instead of coming into the office taking tax breaks needs to stop. Agents making 6 digits while taking tax breaks needs to stop. Agency cruises and
company high on the hog vacations need to stop.

There is so much fat in insurance that if the mutual policyholder knew, it would upset them. It's long overdue just like our government to have serious changes so those who produce tangible items and work very hard get the rewards and not the docker, loafers, sweater over the shoulder, with si--y hands. It's coming just a matter of time.

hiring freezes and expense reduction is code for

" we want to fire people but we cant do it directly so we will make things harder in the hopes they leave then we can have savings and make up for all the billions we lost in the past 2 years and we wont hire more people and the id--ts that are left can pick up the extra work with no raises"
