Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I'm so sorry for everyone affected today

I wish the best for all of you—may you find better opportunities soon, and please don't doubt yourselves because the company reduced you to a number, failing to appreciate your contributions. The previous poster mentioned that the selection for layoffs wasn’t based on performance, which only reinforces the feeling that none of our hard work and dedication mean much. It's no wonder we all feel disposable.

Good luck to the rest of us, especially those who really need this job right now and have no other options for whatever reason.

What do you mean no opportunities anywhere else for whatever reason?! If you want to work, work. Pound nails, drive a truck, learn to weld, work at another software company, sell cutco knives, cut lumber, wait tables, bar tend, flip a burger.

There is always work if you want it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I've been there a couple of decades and have survived several RIFs. I should have left a long time ago, but this latest one finally caught up to me. I wasn't upset, kind of been expecting it. Time to move on now.

So sorry,
I am about to retire, my manager asked if I would take a 6 month buy out...but that was
disapproved, then I suggested to lay me off to save someone else's job...and that got disapproved. I really don't understand
