Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Wells townhall

Heard a rumor that they announced new hires within their first year will be safe from layoffs which was announced at wells townhall. Is this true? Does this apply to other functions too?

Let's just hope we don't have fatalities like we had in 2016 and 2017 right after layoff senior employees

Let's save the kids so when the grown-ups are gone the place really goes up in flames. Quite a few kids of leaders in the horizon program are now SAFE because of this.

They also said past performance would not be looked at during selection. Which doesn’t make sense. Since this is my ~5th re org I can tell you this, if it’s not written down it doesn’t count.

in the Wells townhall, it seems that VP indicated all his direct reports such as directors, GMs were largely determined, but today is simply not right time to announce.

now, I guess those selected directors and GMs are busy with selecting the managers and then down to individual engineers.

And they wonder why it Chevron D&C costs are 20% above peers.

I'm happy to hear wells org focus on lifestyle over performance continues.

@a2+1jnf3k4g9 so this is specific to Wells and not other Horizons subsurface folks with 2024 or 2025 hire dates?
