Ha, you obviously never worked for Dell or EMC. Oracle looks like a dream job compared to many of the others out there.
There are cr-ppy teams and good teams at every company. I was on a great team at Oracle that turned cr-ppy after a reorg with an awful, micromanager. Then I transferred to another vertical and love my current team and manager. I've received raises every year, except the "salary freeze" years. I'm going on 6 years, which is a record for me. And I've been a lot of other places, so I can compare to actual sweatshops and gaslighty, hateful managers.
If you worked here for 18 years, you don't have much references to compare. You probably never worked in legit sweatshops of consulting companies, not to mention absolute hellhole - Amazon.
You are correct. The thing is, there are legit managers there that will advocate for you to not get a raise. The worst thing about Oracle, hands down, is the mgmt. Burning trash. It is usually everyone's biggest career mistake. I haven't met one person that speaks of their job at Oracle with pride.
