Bliss to be a well educated, highly competent and extremely motivated Indian with many, many options. Do you like it?
This is clearly one of those Indians that we hire in America that vacation back home for months at a time. If you wanna go back home so badly why don’t you just stay there and maybe that’ll save a local employee from getting laid off here in America.
Hit the AEOI button.
To be out for almost 8 weeks in the middle of the year where the workload is highest, speaks about you and your dedication to work, no need to take any action, enjoy your reverence package.
First, why can’t you take your laptop, and second, if you can leave for 8 weeks with no problem you’re just showing that your job isn’t necessary.
Never take vacation during a year you plan to move to possibly get whacked as it is better to get it paid out.
OP is correct that some people need to take vacation. This is true if close to maxing out vacation accrual and in the second wave. I'd take no more than a week at a time, space it out, bring company phone, and don't plan any vacation during your selection wave if possible.
Sorry I am not intending to insult you.
If you can be away from your job for an estimated 8 weeks of May and June, your job should go to a low cost geography or at least a new person. You are essentially not needed if you can be gone for 8 weeks.
You don’t NEED to take a vacation, you choose to take one. Ugh.
Keep your in constant contact, by phone or e-mail. Otherwise, expect to not have a job upon return. You ae an indentured servant, act it.
Going on vacation and being out of touch is a personal choice about one’s priorities, it is not an obligation for the Company to manage individuals schedules.
Take your work phone. Sure you can access work day and share point on that. You must be feeling confident you will be selected . I cancel my vacation due to the uncertainty ahead.
I am in second wave too. I have an outside interview coming up, so timing not good on AEOI. Any idea what our notice period is? Heard standard is 2 weeks, but where is that written. Other than this reorg BS I actually prefer to be employed at Chevron. Job has been both interesting and challenging, good colleagues too.
I canceled both vacations in the August - October time frame. I am second wave and would like to take more vacations in the future.
