Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Hybrid isn’t meant for collaboration…

Leadership couldn’t care less if you work at home or not, they know the majority of us are productive. What they care about is the tax breaks they receive from cities/states for agreeing to put X number of people into municipal areas where you will spend your money on food, gas, transit, etc.. Your local government wants you to spend your money locally to keep businesses afloat and the economy running, and companies like Elevance Hellth get tax breaks when they meet a certain number of badge swipes.

If you’re a poor performer and they want to get rid of you, they will go beyond your badge and check your network history in the office and use that as an excuse to can you.

We’re well above the threshold to receive the highest tax breaks at all major cities, so they can begin firing and rebadging without losing out on the tax breaks. They don’t want you to know this because they don’t want you to have a choice where you spend your money. They want to force you in to save a buck on your own tax payer dime. Have ANY of your taxes gone up lately? Think home, auto, dining, grocery, etc.. Yeah, that’s because companies like Elevance Hellth are playing the system. You get double sc--wed. Now what will you do with this information?

It appears the iT workers imported from the Indian subcontinent actually enjoy gathering for collaborative breaks. I see them standing in groups, enjoying coffee, playing billiards, showing one another how to operate the coffee robot, etc.

OP, i enjoyed the Elevance Hellth title. Awesome and sadly true.

Collaboration is an issue whether you're in the office or not. We don't have a collaborative culture. You can have so much positive intent when you ask questions or provide feedback, but someone is always going slap you down.

People are just downright nasty and I'm not even talking about the VP and above level. Ask a single question and someone will find a reason to be condescending or outright lie. And forget feedback. If your feedback doesn't boost some fantasy metric on how much you like it here, you're basically talking to yourself.

How productive did the company think we'd be when everyone is afraid for their job. It has brought out the absolute worst in people. No one wants to share basic information without interrogating why you're asking ffs.

I thought the silos were bad before but now it's silos within teams. All because we drive a culture of competition and gaslight people into thinking we're some kind family. It's beyond disgusting at this point.

Vow to spend as little extra as possible...that defeats their purpose, so they can eat it! Yes, you'll have to spend money on gas to get to the office, but end it right there...don't spend another cent.

Makes perfect sense to me. It was the same thing with DEI hires and promotions - tax breaks based on headcount.

What are you supposed to do with this information? Go to Gail's office and demand a change? Unionize? 🤣

The only "collaboration" I ever are the constant, monotonous, meetings which solely exist to schedule another monotonous meeting.

Anyone know what are the job responsibilities assigned to Felicia?
