The thing is that if Sales and Marketing was the only line of business affected, Intel would not be doing all this press. it would be like one of the yearly stealth lay off that only affects a site or a business group.

7k attrition is a pipe dream. It doesn’t even cover the hiring binge during chip shortage. Shock and awe is coming. Don’t assume it will be only this quarter. Cuts will be deep and will continue until margins and dividend are kept. Pat will do everything to achieve that goal. Otherwise, he will be fired.
In this market intel won’t achieve 7k attrition even in full year.
Given where China Taiwan is going, Intel could have a huge opportunity to step in and fill the gap if Taiwan instability happens.
@fym. How can you say no one has solid info. I guess all you can say is YOU dont have a good info. How do you know others visiting on this site dont as well ?

intel could cut graphics as it will never succeed and stop the $3B dollar loss. what a waste of time and money on such a failed project.
lol. 7k employees is about 5%. Intel gets way more than that through attrition alone. If 5% was all the company wanted the CFO wouldn't have to mention anything about restructuring costs in the earnings call.
Mostly sales and marketing. Max 7k employees affected. 22k is all rumor and misinformation.
Not sure if anyone has any solid info yet.
