Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

These cuts will further encourage attrition.

If I survive these cuts, in any case, I will try to get out of here as soon as possible. What can those who survive expect other than a double workload, shorter deadlines, greater pressure and assurances from the management that they should be happy to have a job at all? These cuts will further encourage more people to leave, I'm convinced of that.

Golden Handcuffs ? LOL at intel those are a thing of the distant past. the only handcuffs that are in use is each and every day when they say how did you improve your focal rating today. and that kind of pi-s poor management, the fear factor, hasnt been working for quite some time. glad I dumped all 32,000 shares i owned earlier this year.

That will be good and will help reach goal of 40,000. Except, the people who will be left will have to work 8 hour days instead of 2 hours.

Of course they'll encourage attrition but Intel has no choice now. This is a survival move. The mistakes have been made. The layoffs are now the price we pay. Attrition or not, they need to happen. Otherwise the rest of the company will be immediately at risk. Some think we're there already. But this at least buys time.

Attrition is always anticipated when cuts happen. If a company doesn't try to give you incentives to keep you when you quit, then you know you will be impacted by future cuts.

For folks looking for an exit, just remember that there would be lot of tightening and layoffs in other FAANG companies as well. So market is going to be tight.

The poor economy, layoffs across the tech sector, and Golden Handcuffs might discourage attrition for those who have been spared from the guillotine this time around.

It is these people that have gamed the system that will bully the hardworking ones to take on more workload.

Recently, a manager who could not get a req to fill was saying we need to be a team and step in for each others workloads.

No. The chief of staffs and 20 hr per week grade 9s will fight to stay on the books forever!

I agree. Those who will remain at Intel are likely to have more pressure at work with ever shrinking project budgets. It is likely to become a miserable environment rather than a Great Place to Work unfortunately. I think after the layoffs, there will be more deadline slips due to fewer people to provide support where and when needed. I also expect many people to leave by themselves after this wave.

I agree, except that there are a ton of people that are based in Oregon, have a family, and maybe even like their job. Add these up and it can be easier said than done to just find a job and leave. Plus, just think of how many have gamed the system for a long time to get a role/salary/lifestyle that they can coast without doing much. They won’t leave unless forced, except the system is set up to reward these types of workers
