Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

What do grade letters mean?

I understand the grade number, but what does the letter mean? Like if you’re a grade 15F - what does the F mean?

A person has to question the ethical values USB carries when an employee decides to step away, pursue another job opportunity, submits their 2 week notice on a Wednesday, and instead of thanking the employee for their years of service, they are told they can just be done on Friday at noon. What a way to make your employee feel valued. While others are met with this type of dismissal, another individual can put in their notice and within 45 minutes was met with an offer of a 12k raise to stay. You know it's bad when they decline and go on their merry way. People who want to react with thumbs down need to ask themselves if they are one of the "yes men", the continual brown noser, who instead of becoming an expert in their area and trying their damnedest to make things better are really one of the clowns who job jump every year for that higher salary. I call them clowns because they have 0 idea how to do their role. They use all the right buzz words, the $5 words when a simple sentence will have more of an effect, and gloss over risk and issues and say the concern isn't a show stopper and then in a year when what they've been working on goes in, they've already moved up to that higher paying job and don't care about the sh-t storm they've left behind because they've moved on. Someone else is forced to clean up after their mess. It's those people who are getting promoted, who are climbing that corporate ladder...the simple minded people who are relying on others to know wtf they are doing so it makes them look good. All this is happening to the good employees, the people who actually care. It's hilarious when you have a leader who tells an employee it doesn't matter what your grade is. It 100% makes a difference overall. When you are hanging out at a grade 11or 12and open positions are posted for the same title you are, but hiring at a 13, a person has to ask questions.

An individual in one lower paying demographic moved to a higher demographic and their boss refused to give them the pay change since they weren't forced to move. "It's not in the budget" was the reasoning. Previously another person moved to the same said higher demographic and they immediately got the pay change. Employee titles are changed with no raise, but then open reqs are created with the same new names, but are a grade higher, with an obvious hike in pay. Managers continually wonder why people are upset. This is why. Employees feel like dirt when they are getting a 2-3% raise and told they are being paid fairly for their demographic while watching others move into the same role for 15k+ more salary. Employees express these topics, but instead of seeing how areas can get aligned, the resolution leadership came up with is only to have employee satisfaction surveys twice a year instead of quarterly.

A through F are "geo codes". C is considered national average. Minneapolis is in D, San Fran is F, very rural parts of states A. It's the way they account for 1 city not costing as much to live in as another city.

Grade 12 midpoint in 2025 up until around December, same exact job, same exact grade, but different location...
Locations A $77.4k LOL get out of A and live in a real city
Locations B $83.4k
Locations C $89.2k STL, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Atlanta
Locations D $95.9k Twin Cities, Denver, Dallas, Portland
Locations E $101.8k LA,
Locations F $108.4k San Fran, Boston, NYC, Seattle

Location "negative i" for India, grade 12 midpoint, $100 (not 100k, just 100)

BTW, if you choose to move from region X to region Y taking a different job with the bank

Move from F to A on your own, HR will decrease your base
Move from A to F on your own, HR will not increase your base
If they offer to relocate you and offer you the job, then that depends on how that deal went down.
