Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Declining revenue

Uniti filed a form 425 last week including 2024 financial results for windstream. It was not pretty. Revenue decreased each quarter of 2024. It also decreased compared to the same quarters in 2023. Even with expenses also being cut profits could not keep up. Ebitdar was down year over year. The future does not look bright.

The reason D2D and a few other channels are being micromanaged so hard is because every time their commissions are audited tons of commission fraud is found.

Well the sales teams are selling free fiber upgrades and some are washing addresses all while being micromanaged to the point of serious mental stress and anguish. I’d say the sales teams have had all they are gonna take. LCC teams keep shrinking and d2d has to record every interaction so I’d say the will shrink too if not already. It’s poor sales tactics and poor money management. We can also argue that engineering is useless too… I was told that isn’t my area it’s so and sos and when I went to so and so he helped but it wasn’t his either. If we can’t help with a simple task we sure can’t engineer a job! The only ones half way trying to do their jobs is ops and even that argue with construction on who’s responsible for what on certain issues. This place is a dumpster fire and I can’t wait til it ends or I find a job! Been holding on for that unemployment if I’m being honest.

Damn. If the sales teams were that good adding new revenue and new customers, we shouldn’t have this problem….something don’t add up here does it?

Zayo is the leading contender to buy the fiber assets of Crown Castle for 8 million. Check the article from a few weeks ago on Telecom Ramblings.

If I thought we were getting bought by Zayo, id run from here. Zayo can’t manage their own s#!t show. They have field people that do not want to work. Really, just like WS management, they want paid to do zip for Zayo.

Zayo just raised 1.4 billion in additional capital..which coincidentally is the current market cap for Uniti.

We have one worthless exec. that joins mandatory weekly (pointless) meetings. I swear he sounds like Tattoo from Fantasy Island. Laughing at him is the only thing that keeps me awake.

The next layoff might be “MAGA! Like nothing anyone has ever seen before at this company.”

Yeah this place is overpopulated with directors and VP's that don't know what they are doing. It is everywhere. Now we have people promoted to Sr. Principal (Director pay but no reports) that don't even know the business or how to do anything but make powerpoint presentations.

They need to cut the directors and presidents most of whom have no clue what happens in the field daily but they can tell you how to do your job. In one meeting a president was asking questions he thought was smart trying to trip people up with answers when they really didn't know either. Just amazing we overpay these people to micromanage something they know nothing about. Seems to be the whole problem with the company now you can talk yourself into a job then don't have a clue what to do, but instead of getting fired you either get a raise or moved to another position. While people that can actually do the job right get passed over and sh-t on because you know more than the "boss"

They need to cut middle managers. They cost way to much for what they bring to the table. No one would miss them.

I was a bit POed that I did not get let go when I could have gotten 26 weeks of pay (2 weeks per year up to 13 years) volunteered but I was deemed to critical arggggg. I eventually got the 12 weeks severance package years later when my vacation time and pay triggered someone. But amazingly, they made it even worse now with this unemployment supplement for years service. I doubt they take any questions during townhalls (never did).
Bottom Line: If I was young and thought I had skills I would leave in a heart beat. (sage advice)

I remember several years back the managers were all told to discuss Ebitda, with the direct reports. I told my boss to save it for someone that can pronounce Ebitda and give two shakes what it was about.

Meet the new people’s republic of Chinese communications company. PRCC. Elliott will sell to anyone regardless of who or what it hurts.

Why would any company want to buy it? It’s a complete s@!t show that is worthless. I mean really what would any potential buyer be getting that has any value. The company is a shell of what it once was and the downfall started with the buying of debt laden CLEC’s that bankrupted it. The last great leader the company had was Joe Ford, ever since it’s been ran by crooks and now just a bunch of a*s clowns that are clueless.

The company is merging with unity in order to facilitate a larger sale. There is no future with Windstream/Unity. I hope that the people who are left are able to stay with whichever company buys this albatross.
