Working at CNRL

Is working at CNRL really as bad as everyone says? I am supposed to be going there after an acquisition closes sometime this spring, and other than the stock performance, have not heard one good thing about working there. In fact most people offer their condolences.

I work at CNRL. It is an awesome company! Less politics; every one seems aligned towards the same goal. Managers are technical and hence can’t BS them. SVPs know and care about the smallest details & Budget is King.. you don’t live outside your means! Hence the company flourishes and you flourish

“Haha more crazy people talking about Jesus on here”. Yup what gets me is people saying climate change is real. It isn’t. We work in oil and gas. The lefties are saying climate change yap all the time. We here in Alberta know climate change isn’t real at all. It’s a narrative to control our industry. Don’t fall for it. Look what they are doing to oil and gas stock. It’s at a 52 week low.

I tend to agree. From an environmental standpoint oil and gas companies WILL be okay in Canada. Polievere will likely be elected federally as everyone is tired of JT. As we know PP actually stands up for the rights of Alberta and Canada. On the provincial level DS is standing up for for Alberta.

Most of us have family working in oil and gas industry in some way. We know climate change talk is a conspiracy by the left to control the agenda. We need to fight back any way we can. It is our fundamental right to extract oil as it a gift from Jesus. Just as Jesus could heal the sick and bring the dead back to life so too will any damage to the environment be fixed if any. This has always been the case.

Alberta has been blessed with an abundance of wealth. We always share this wealth with the rest of the country via equalization payments. Quebec or “Le Belle province” always gets the lion share of our wealth. Alberta could go it alone independently or we could take the US offer and join their country it would be perfect for us as 85% of our oil is sold to the USA. We would not need to deal with taxes and could finally carry g-ns openly.

We here in Alberta are on the good side of the USA so it’s unlikely that we will experience tariffs. We know how to deal with larger economies.

Too my friends at CNRL and other oil and gas companies that are worried about job cuts it is still to worry if any. We here in Alberta will be okay. Daniel Smith is doing a great job and Pierre Polievere will be a fantastic prime minister.

The lefties are trying to control the agenda and us by bringing up false narratives about climate change. We know climate change isn’t real at all. If it was real we would not extract it.

Make sure the offered job as part of the acquisition is substantially similar to the job you have now

It’s a job. The company tends to have less cuts. Like all oil and gas companies CNRL gets around environmental laws. After all oil and gas is the bread and butter of Alberta. If you believe in climate change you live in the wrong province. Lefties should not be allowed in Alberta.

A company that markets itself to prospective employees as "not a sweat-shop" probably is.

I've never worked there but know several people who have. None have liked it. I had an offer from CNRL in the mid 2000's which I ultimately turned down due to the prospect of long hours in the office and too much time away from my young family. I ended up taking a job with a competitor for 20% more base pay. The LTIs can be attractive but everything, including the annual bonus, vested over 3 to 5 years. Most people agree, if you like the stock, buy it, but don't work there.

If you believe in climate change and global warming this isn’t the company for you. Like all oil and gas companies in Alberta it’s about profit first over the environment. Expect more cuts and scale backs due to the Trump / Musk Tariffs.

Trump will want to impose a deal similar to Ukraine for its natural resources. I expect when Pierre becomes prime minister he will sign away 50% of our resources and give 1% of the ssles tax (GST) to Trump for all the injustices he wants. Mexico will most likely have to do the same. As he has noted he will impose an ERS to replace the IRS. Anything that comes into the USA will have a tariff. As well he will impose a “protection fee” on countries so the USA won’t attack them as long as they pay.

But overall if you believe climate change is real and want to take action this isn’t the company for you.

Good place to work. Everything is simple. Nothing fancy. Some positions require more work. Pay is ok but could be higher.

“ Bunch of rednecks work there, they pollute and don’t care”

Like many business in Alberta in oil and gas all pollute. It’s a fact of living in Alberta. Climate change isn’t real. If we believed in climate change we wouldn’t live in Alberta and work for an oil and gas company As for the re----k comment not sure where that comes from? Calgary and Alberta are diverse.

Are you referring to Torxen acquisition? CNRL is as good as any other oil and gas company. It’s what you make it and your attitude going in.
