Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

rumors of dod program cuts

as friends and family face the reality of 5-8% cuts across the federal civilian workforce.. similar cuts are brewing for long running programs like f15 and j35. if fed follows the same path that non-gov business did i would expect 5% per year census cut for the next 10 years. this will be a big jolt to the ecomony and it will ripple through honeywell without the legacy buffers that a big conglomerate provided against sector downturns.
hold your hat folks. no soft landing

For veterans its not very hard to get some disability. Most get 30 to 70% just for asking. It does take work to get to 100% but worth it. 4200 a month for life. Better then most pensions plus yearly adjustments for COLA.

@gq+1jmr72vh Service members that have a 100% disability rating are supposed to be fast tracked through SSI disability. SSI disability is not TAX free unfortunately. I know others receiving the 100% VA disability with 3 kids and get 4400 a month and get another 2800 from SSI.

@h4+1jmr72vh6 2 million former service members have applied to have their rating increased to 100%. They said bLump loves the Vets? Hold on to hope.

I've been working for years to increase my disability rating with VA. So many I know are getting 100% for weak cases of insomnia and marginal hearing loss and I have a legit case and can't break through to the golden payout.

I am a veteran and I have rights. I spent 4 years in the Airforce and suffered greatly and finally after 10 years my rating was increased to 100%. I need my job at Honeywell as I can't live on the 4100 a month tax free I get from VA. I hope my social security disability comes through soon.

Here do some more napkin math and tell me why the wrecking ball approach is happening only in departments that are linked to investigating Elmo and Donny's misdeeds? Do you really think that billionaires are doing this out of the goodness of their own hearts to save the country and not their own pocketbooks? If you can't see past this chaos to the blatant corruption that is going on, then you are a special kind of HW-management material.

So far layoffs are strictly seniority based. They are letting go the young folks first. This is a known failure mode in business of course. Results in succession problems five years later.

Tell me OP: when laying off is there any consideration for disabled veteran (highest), veteran or non veteran seniority?

this is @op, i have no political sl--t here. all politicians are self serving in the end.
what matters is your family. honeywell decided to breakup at exactly the time when conglomerates do best..stormy water. aero will survive but the other groups? how does honeywell buildings sell stuff absent government rebates and building codes for "green" buildings? maybe a moot point if all sales are in china anyway.
six people in my family worked in fed gov. all in jeopardy. 2 sw coders at naval war center already laid off without severance.

What’s worse, trimming the fat or a having a bankrupt country?
Want longevity? Design and develop products that push technological advances that contribute to “peace through strength” that the DoD recognizes.
GE spent huge amount of their own money developing CMC’s the last 2 decades that are now invaluable and now paying large dividends in the turbine engine industry. The current development programs wouldn’t be able to achieve their targets without them.
What has HW developed lately that keeps China on their heels?

had to do some napkin math, but i think doge wants 20% of the federal workforce to quit. So 20%*3M federal workforce= 600k jobs lost. Current unemployment rate = 4%(6.8M). Unemployment increases by ~0.5%. Not small at all, not to mention that loss of govt contracts will probably lead to higher numbers. I understand that tackling deficit is key to make sure debt does not reach 30% of our yearly bill and this wrecking ball approach is more efficient compared to a delayed approach where McKinsey or other consultants have rich 4 year contracts to peel the layers. Just have to make sure we are truly adding value and have the resume polished.

@bq+1jmr72vh6 you do realize all these job cuts are going to cause an employment crisis right? Plenty of jobs out there…that are going to be the same pay or the same type of job they are qualified for? When you have the amount of people losing their jobs this quickly (and it’s far from being done I’m sure) it’s going to cause a lot of economic downfall which in turn causes job loss in many sectors. We’re all at risk.
