Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Imagine getting asked this simple question - "what they got done last week"

This simple question will give an idea right away.... the 15-20% cut..

"Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week.

Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation."

I remember years ago we got a new GM who suggested everyone in the group should have at least one deadline and deliverable per month. We all thought he was surely joking as it seemed unreasonable to us.haha.

MW's answer would be, "I finished the S1 episodes of Landman and wrote a series by series review of it at IMDB, please like and subscribe my review on YT..."

It would be hard for me to narrow it down to 5 things. I didn’t realize that’s not the case for everyone.

On why DOGE requested 5 bullets:

"The reason this matters is that a significant number of people who are supposed to be working for the government are doing so little work that they are not checking their email at all. In some cases, we believe non-existent people or fake identities are being used to collect paychecks. In other words, there is outright fraud." - Elon Musk, DOGE

"Been in meetings after meetings to talk about additional meetings we need to to have." and during my times away from meetings have been helping those one or two PSGs above me learn how to do their work because now, as individual contributors, they don't know how to do anything else, aside from emails and slides.

The manager who asks this should be fired immediately for not knowing what his people are doing or properly staffing his team.

@df+1, yes. The longer you talk, the less interested your manager will be in what you have to say. If he/she doesn't ask any questions after you lay down that brilliant smokescreen, it shows they don't really understand your project or your contributions anyways.

If you can't name at least 5 things, you should be gone. I'd hate to have this type of micro-manager though. Interesting that KP told his FBI crew to disregard...dissent on the inside on week 1 lol

Nothing new - I had a manager some years ago who did the same thing at our weekly meeting. Here's the way around it - quote the longer-term project you're working on, then cite the agreed-upon time frame, then cite some landmark goal, and state that you're making progress on it by (something or other).

Haha. 80% above the lower positions will just have the same items the lower guys ACTUALLY DID!
All they do is just having the same items but reworded. Did you hear them saying? "I need you to do that as I have it on my PMP"......

Especially w ChatGPT.. Ideas are cheap and not worth the salt of a PSG 24... results and folks from folks who actually get sh*t done are what MW is looking for... what did he say "new culture"

"Why start from scratch?? That's inefficient and in our huge corporation, there is lots of previous work to borrow, adapt, and IMPROVE WITH NEW IDEAS. Its way more efficient. Especially if its in Word, Excel or Power Point. PSG 24 BTW."

"I'd like to see anyone over PSG 22 come up with something that isn't other people's work. So many delusional middle managers and leaders got promoted by stealing work, it would be good to see where those ideas actually came from."

I work on the SFA's from our leadership. Plain and simple, therefore it must be valuable or they would create new ones....

I'm safe then! Doesn't everyone not in frontline O&M write a weekly report?
I guess from reading some of these posts, a lot of you spend a lot of time just having the people around you.

Cured aids, solved world hunger, and resurrected Jesus Christ... if our management as stupid as Musk, Just sorting through mega-data with AI, I should have nothing to worry about!

@a5+1 "So it says here that you spent 3 hrs per week recording what you spent your time doing?!? Was there a gap in your pointless meeting schedule you needed to fill?" Fired

Easy. I take hour-by-hour notes of what I do. I ask for their email and send it to them.
