Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Yall are unbelievable and tone-deaf

We all know layoffs are coming to thousands of people and yall are are complying that if you survive you’re going to be overworked.

The whole reason why this layoff is even happening is because y’all want to be treated like royalty for the job you do. Yall afraid of some hard work and afraid to get laid off at the same time. You don’t see Indians having this dilemma.

Chevron Recruiter : "It's not your lack of skills or any experience that's so impressive, but it was your demand to work from home that REALLY makes you stand out in a crowd"

... Go and asks Indians, better yet, any worker who has been missing labor laws or lacks power dynamic how they feel about the way they're worked. This is not limited to any minority. Humans ARE royalty, and companies are not. If they don't improve society, they're leeches/parasites with no end goal but to extract profit, even resources for whatever mindless goal they came up with when reading a random philosopher's quote and creating their identity around it because of their bias. Nobody minds work (unless you're a leech yourself). Everybody minds suppression of self care and basic human rights.

Spot on @a2! It’s amazing how many people in this company forget or don’t even know that we’re in the business of finding and selling oil. All the whining from the corporate/support functions is ridiculous.

If ELT truly wants us to be the best they should hire recently retired Exxon SMEs in O&G Exploration and Major Capital Projects as highly paid consultants and listen to them. That would move the needle in ways we are lacking that add long term shareholder value much more than these layoffs.

One criteria for whom to layoff is someone who grossly over uses the term Y’all and seems to think they know more about hard work - and probably everything else - than others.

The 30% lay-off in the US will be carefully done to preserve or increase diversity and avoid discrimination lawsuits. Older, more highly paid white men should expect to get hammered on this lay-off. They can balance the age number with new hires.

We’re getting laid off bc the stock market line must go up, every year, forever…. And have to pad exec pay/stock etc.

Having worked other places, “overworked” for Chevron is “normally worked” everywhere else.

Get fu---d clown. This layoff is happening because our fearless LT doesnt have the first idea on how to effectively manage, or even understand basic mechanics of how things work. They’ve promoted work flows that are in the ineffective and unproductive, and a culture of no MANAGEMENT accountability, and then somehow are shocked to learn that had consequences.

Vast majority of the rank and file are thrilled to show up and work hard. The problem is the work we’ve been tasked with is building a bridge to no where.

We are getting laid off because we can't find oil. When we could find oil, they did treat us like royalty.
