Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

AEOI runs from Feb 28 through Mar 10. Our IT town hall is Mar 5

Then there are another layer of town halls after LCs

So basically we have maybe 2-3 days to decide on AEOI if we want to have any kind of information on what the new org is going to look like. How thoughtful of them to wait and do these town halls at the last minute.

It’s possible to get a job you didn’t apply to. It’s unlikely they would offer you a job that includes relocation unless your mobility preferences state that you’re willing to move to that location.

Is it possible to apply for multiple jobs that you would take that do not require relocation, not get any of those, but be offered a job you are qualified for but did not apply to, that forces you to relocate across country?

So say for example you’re in SR and don’t really intend on moving, your best bet is to not take the EOI, ride out the selection process, and get no severance?

The unemployment should be defined in the severance package and if it is not then you will be eligible for unemployment. If they do not write out an exclusion for filing unemployment it is because they are not legally allowed to, but they can leave it out of the paperwork and that is not illegal to not say anything.
The way you file for unemployment is very important, you must state a Reduction in Workforce to be eligible. There will also be questions for severance. Chevron pays a severance as one lump sum which is an advantage when filing for unemployment. This way you are not receiving a paycheck every two weeks which makes you ineligible to collect unemployment because you are being paid.

Several years ago I worked for a company and when we returned to work after the holiday week being off, the had several ELT steal money in the previous year and they laid off about 90% of the staff while they reorganized. The company was private so it was not on the news. The HR woman I worked with on the exit package was furious and she told me the in's and out's of the severance / unemployment rules.
Good luck to everyone in the next several months, this is a terrible situation but you will find out who your real friends are. When the chips are down the real friends and family will stick by your side.

I need 6 more months to vest into pension. Would you wait it out or AEOI?

The regular EOI rides on whether you are in scope. If your position is available and you don’t want to move or take it, you walk away without a package.

Go read the FAQs about EOI.

Say you are someone residing in SR, with 10 years of service and got a long way until retirement. Already decided not moving and likely you will have a role in Houston. The market su-ks, you don’t want to get stuck with only a few months of pay …. You may want to consider passing on EOI and just work till 2027 or when you absolutely can’t.

@ag+1jmmptk57 heard same, however that doesn't seem to align with the verbage in the enterprise site mentioned by ELT, unless it's been updated.

You will really just b!tch about everything.
They were actually quite clear in the SETH that AEOI was for people who want to leave no matter what.

Then the org is revealed, and then you get to see whether you want to be a part of it, and EOI.

The timeline is the way it is because it was communicated as such, and even the rationale was provided if you weren’t just asleep at the wheel.

I heard the same as the poster below. There’s only 1 EOI opportunity now, and then in selection process you will have to apply for jobs and only those left standing will get the 2 week per year or service severance. But if you want to EOI without having to go through selections and possibly be placed in a job you don’t want then there’s only this first AEOI opportunity.

Just remember, aeoi now is a lot safer then eoi later in terms of who is hiring and how many workers are competing in the market for jobs. Sorry to say that but it's true

If you accept AEOI or EOI, are you eligible for unemplyment later if you cannot find new job after your severance package?

I’ve seen some townhalls scheduled for AFTER the aeoi deadline.

AEOI is for people who want to leave asap no matter what, not for those who would like to see how the re org progresses before deciding.

Nothing will change between the AEOI and the EOI that is available later. So you'll have many weeks, if not more, to push that shiny button if you so choose, at no penalty. Not sure why you'd want to go with the AEOI unless you have a plane to catch.

Everyone was complaining how long it took and now just the opposite. It’s happening, make your decisions now and let’s move forward.
