Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron has the worst middle-management

Middle managers typically promote employees who have the best fishing camp or boat, instead of based on performance. Several of the managers in projects will jokingly tell underlings that if they would be open to letting their spouse sleep with them, it would greatly increase their chances of being promoted. Only they are not kidding.

Offshore, there are far too many people from Mississippi working offshore of Louisiana. These Mississippians HATE people from Louisiana, but desperately want to work there.

Mississippians hating Cajuns is like a guy with a back ni-ple roasting his cousin’s side ni-ple. Like, broski… you mutated differently, not better

My previous employer actually had some pretty good middle management. I was shocked at how sh!tty CVX management was top to bottom.

“Man, our middle management in this company is absolutely top notch!” - said no one ever, from any company.

Come on, man..

Q. What is the dream of every boy in Mississippi?

A. To go to Louisiana, work offshore, and constantly complain about Louisiana Cajuns.

I agree, they need to go. Provide no value, that a bean counter can’t do for a lot less!

Lay off 75% of the IT XLT and things will run more smoothly

@by+1jmhe58ky You read my mind. I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I now know alone I am not.

The empire building by the incompetent and desire for compliance lest the emperor is shown to be wearing no clothes is worse psychological torture than the constant threat of layoffs. The two combined are more toxic than H2S.

Our IT Manager has 30 years in the company and doesn’t seem to understand why producing oil is more important than organizing your email inbox.

While I disagree with OP, can confirm there are qualified people being told not to apply for positions in GOM.

ABU management 101. Build an empire then fill full of the incapable but compliant.

Are you jelly that you didn't get invited to something on a boat or fishing camp? Do you dislike people from MS and LA? Not sophisticated enough for your snobby elite A$$? That's what it sounds like more than a real thing. There are no rules that people can't socialize outside of work however they want. Get over it.

I never encountered this. If anything, the "We Lead" metrics have created a more effeminate and touchy-feely atmosphere where results come second to sensitive behavior.

IT middle management is absolutely terrible. The entire lot needs to be eliminated in order to allow IT to perform better after this round of restructuring.

I have seen this first hand in several places in international expats. Ask around, you will be amazed by what people are willing to do to get expat positions and keep them.

OP is mad because some Mississippi project boy nailed his wife at their fishing camp during his hitch
