If you are higher paid than new engineers, you are at risk.
If you have a handicap, you are at risk.
If you have sick children that you care for, you are at risk.
If your work can be out sourced, you are at risk.

When IT was outsourced during the Rockwell Collins days Clay Jones said there would not be a single RIF. Many became EPAs. That is the kind of loyalty I expect from employers. Of course that kind of loyalty isn't shown, even at the federal government level. Treating employees as numbers is a disease that diminishes our society. But at least I can morally justify being a ruthless employee right?

Seriously people, always have the emergency fund and watch job postings. I do. Do I think my job is at risk? of course, I always feel that way. Do I think I will lose it? Nope. I was told today I am the glue that holds it all together.
