Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Was this just one large meeting sent out for the buyout?

I am in C&S. I did not get any sort of notification and I don't think anybody where I am at was impacted. Otherwise, the gossip mill would have been flying wild. I found this out via Tik Tok and the news of the 30,000 buy out. Was this just one big random meeting that was sent out to specific departments? Regardless, seeing this on media made it very hard to work today.

The meeting I was in was a few hundred people. I promptly fell over when I saw the actual number of people offered. We must've all been notified in 'small' groups.

Read the information. It is voluntary for people who want to take the offer. If you are nearly retirement, if you are struggling with performance and are getting fired anyways, if you want to pursue other opportunities but didn't have the chance, this is for you, if not then DONT TAKE THE OFFER!

I'm puzzled as to why there is such a large layoff after reported record earnings. Does anyone think that maybe this is related to the fact United is preparing itself to be bought? What I can’t figure out is what company has large enough to be able to buy United healthcare.

I work in C&S on the provider side... and we were pulled in a meeting and told that they wanted to empower us to have a decision in our careers by telling us to self-fire with 7 weeks of pay. They just hired over 150 people for our deparment in November of last year... work force should have known they were going to be overstaffed! UHC is just trying to save face because they already have so much negative publicity due to their fraudulent practices of denying people from coverage. They clearly don't gaf about their employees

It was very specific on who received it. The leader was ensuring every last person was accounted for on our meeting. It's very targeted and they will be accounting for everyone's choices. Something serious is going on by the way it's being handled. I noticed theres a third-party company to handle the resignation process. Not sure if that's normal or if they had to hire a company to help for this amount of staff.

I'm in C&S A&G, we were pulled into a meeting yesterday and told about the offer. It was a mandatory meeting, and I forwarded it to a coworker, then got told I was not allowed to forward it to anyone. It was externally secretive, and we were given zero reasoning, other than to be told what an amazing offer it was and that the company values us so much that they wanted us to be the first to given the offer.
