Is Valero hiring?
Any info on Houston engineering firms like Fluor, Bechtel, KBR? I have a PE.

Local E&C only staff up when thye have projects and not enough people. Very bo-m opr bust. Experienced staff needs for LNG, Ethylene and specialized refining may fit Chevron folks. Good Project Controls, Project and Office/Field Construction people with strong execution skills are hard to find. Heads up that certain E&C's try bluffing their way into work where they are clueless and you may be part of the scam. Chem Eng. with 3 to 5 years design experience and process simulation skills will find work.
Damn near every E&P is looking for good people (Geo, Res, Prod, Facilities Ops). General pre-requisites: under 45, have some commercial fluency, haven't allowed your technical skills to atrophy, and are willing to work a bit harder. (Source: person who recently jumped)
Those under 35 should expect to see a material pay bump gross of pension and variable comp. Those in the 35-45 range should be largely flat.
For those over 45, I'm sorry. Market sentiment isn't kind to old technical staff without strong E&P network. Some of you guys are damn valuable, but my guess is that Chevron won't be d-mb enough walk you out the door.
You can get hired anywhere as long as your expectations aren’t to receive same Chevron compensation. Real world is different than the Chevron cake walk
Chevron going to be dumping engineers and someone thinks this is not the place to ask where are you looking? Jeesh - no wonder we can't find oil.
If you have enough skill and wherewithal to get your degree and PE you should have enough common sense and know-how to find information on and offline on the job market and openings. The layoff site is not where you should be looking or asking. Please stop embarrassing yourself and other PEs.
Wood is hiring as long you don’t demand ridiculous compensation. Plus you get to work remote 100% (unofficially).
