Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Signs that you were being laid off

For the people who have been laid off by Centene or know of others who have, what did they say happened? We’re they placed on a pip first? Was the lay off an individual meeting with your PL and HR or was it during a town hall or health plan staff department meeting? So legit info would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

I'm curious about which departments and job titles are being cut. Compliance has been moved to Corporate, and I expect that some positions will be eliminated due to the overlap in responsibilities. I’ve also heard that Bob L@@#e's team might be evaluated first. Has anyone heard any updates? The job market is tough right now.

Signs? None really. People I trusted. People I’d helped build their own careers and help them make moves - they stabbed me in the back.

I was transferred to a new PL, and knew from day one that if layoffs hit my team I would be the one cut as my PL only communicated to me when she had too. My 1:1 suddenly popped in HR and was told position was eliminate. 2 weeks notice was all I was given. No PIP, all great reviews. My last day with the company they posted 2 PM positions a level higher than me and said they were under new department and had the finances now to higher more help.

Almost all of my tasks were split about a month before to "lighten my load."

I received an email for a meeting, but just had my 1:1 two weeks prior. Upon opening Zoom, my PL was there and a few seconds later the Director, who was not on the invite, popped in to inform me that my position had been eliminated.

My PL hated me and my team (we were handed off to their team and they did not like that at all). Just before I left we were transferred to another area but they had already started my layoff.

I had no negative reviews and was considered a very valuable SME for legal and compliance. But if someone doesn't like you then you're gone.

That's what layoffs are for, getting rid of people that you can't fire for cause. It takes around 45 days for a layoff to go through legal and all the facets. So if you are laid off, know that it started around 2 months ago with a discussion and has been in the works since.

My notice was similar to the other replies. No pip, received meeting invitation from manager with subject "Transition." Meeting was with my direct PL and our HR rep, I was told my position was being eliminated.

When it happened to me, there was no warning. No pip or performance issue. Review from the printer was Exceeds. Walked in that day, turned in my laptop, started reading emails and my boss asked me to come to her office. In there was she and the HRBP. Done in 15 minutes.

no PIP; I was specifically told it was not performance-related. my PL and their PL broke the news. no signs, really, except this wasn’t my first time. I was lucky enough to get another internal position.
