DOGe is laying off all the new hires, presumably because they add little value today. If Trump and Musk are brilliant, should we be following their lead?

It is a mistake for Chevron to hire directly from college. They have no other perspective from which to compare their experiences and improve a company. To be shot in the foot, horizons are given preferential treatment to rise the ranks for their sacrifice for not bedding other companies. That is why senior leadership, 40-year experience horizon virgins, relies heavily on consultants for perspectives. Their chastity has also given them a misplaced ego and some horse blinders.

Let's be real, the company is full of senior employees who have learned over time that you can do the bare minimum and be rewarded similarly, especially if you can just talk in a meeting.

Have literally worked with several senior employees with 10-20+ years of experience, produce less work and have less technical ability than a new hire with 1-3 years of experience

But hey, cut the new hires and not those employees getting paid far more.

Instead of acting like one group of employees needs the axe more than others, let's actually evaluate EVERYONE on a consistent basis

If DOGE were responsible for Chevron layoffs, the cuts would be 80%+, not be based on business needs, totally random, no severance package, and everyone's personnel data would likely be sold on the dark web. The only upside is MW might be one of the random layoffs.

Unfair. Some of the horizons people are pretty damn good and everyone needs to start somewhere. Others I see just kinda visiting places like a tourist. They can be really annoying toward the end of the program because they mistake exposure for experience.

Oh wow. Imaginr a company has a policy of last in first out policy, all seniors don't have to work. You just need to employ a bunch of newbies before the reorg. I won't want to work in such a company.

Exxon walked people out the door with 6 months FT experience. Cannot speak to if they protected people with less than that threshold.

I know one function that saw 65% trim to early career types across the BU-equivalent.

That's pretty much exactly what Exxon did when they performed their last reorg. It'll be interesting to see if Chevron swings a similarly heavy axe this time.

I would argue that Chevron is substantially over-staffed at the junior ranks. I would personally swing a 50%+ cut all the way down to 1 year tenure. It doesn't take very long to get a feel for if a person is "good" or not

Solid plan. Following both of their leads, we should all also spend 23 hours a day on social media making up crazy lies and sharing conspiracy theories that have zero substance, while using 8 year old taunts to attack meanie heads we don’t like.
All the while taking in $$ somehow.
