Manager of engineering management is a classic example of why Chevron is no longer an industry leader. Backstabbing , friends are protected and don't forget the love if external contractors who give plenty of perks.
Managers that’s what happened. They have ALL the power, even if they break policy or act badly, they are the final word. Why write policies if managers can break them. Many managers act badly here at Chevron and it’s always ok. It is also true that managers have favorites and people they protect. Been here almost three decades
I was proud to be part of Chevron Refining, then downtown Houston for 30+ years. The Houston culture and work ethic was okay up 2015, then went sideways and I retired in 2020. The posts I see now make me glad I left.

It’s simple. They have no moral compass and this is what happens. You could be on fire and they wouldn’t help you. They might pretend to look for a fire engine or a hose but they couldn’t give a fu-k about you.
"Poor leadership and greed. They could have done layoffs with less head games. Moving engineers positions to India is a huge risk as they will be losing the needed experience to remain successful. This move is for short terms optics. Not a long term solution."
Bingo. This hurts families and engineers in the US.
Who does this help, the non-skilled privileged people on the top.
