Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

This will be very telling

All I hear from coworkers, whether on this forum or in person, is how they cannot wait to leave, how they would volunteer for layoffs, and how severance is the only thing keeping them here. Well, they just got their wish. Based on that, there should be no issue finding enough volunteers to avoid involuntary layoffs. Yet, something tells me most were just talking big, and very few will actually follow through.

Seriously! You would think that this was the opportunity they were wanting for. I wonder if any of them were not given an offer if there is a way that they can volunteer in someone else’s place, Hunger Games style.

You'll get it eventually. The devil's in the details. When you start reading the fine print of the general announcement document, especially in bullets numbered 6, 7, 10 and 11, which are slanted in favor of the employer to change or modify terms at their discretion. The touch that has changed a fairly equitable offer to a lump of equine fecal matter on a silver platter is the final sentence in bullet 23 : 'The company reserves the right to modify, amend, suspend, or terminate the VRSP in whole or in part at any time and from time to time, for any reason, by action of the company.'

You seem like you're hoping the pool gets smaller in order to remain hopeful that you'll still have a job.
