Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Any thoughts on what will happen with REG Ames?

Do you think Ames REG acquired people will be in this lay off too? Any thoughts on how the restructure will impact BU/IT and people located there?

I could see it being like the old tech centers where everyone reported to different central groups in Houston.

All REG IT jobs are moved to Houston.

CREG is tricky to speculate because although it’s a huge money pit, there’s an Ames office and Geismar expansion plans in flight right now, and Geismar is a key part of that entire lower carbon strategy. I think Chevron would leave Ames alone for now, as they are still integrating, expanding, but move those jobs to Houston later. So, if I were you, and you don’t want to relocate, I’d update my resume now.

I expect there is not a strong case for a separate Ames office. No need to have an independent VCO or planning group, so high chance functions being integrated into central group, finally run out of Houston by end of 2026. Ames Lab will move, but no obvious location ready in Houston. Ames IT has no unique function over what can been worked at global offices.
Suggestion, update your WD profile and indicate willingness to relo. An advantage is CREG staff are lower on the cost curve, but come with a unique skills set.
